    terry tightarse.

btw anyone want a pair of black goldtecs laced with sapim spokes to black open pro's ;)

  • well done men, that's another villain safely behind bars.

keep up the good work, remember:

    LET'S KEEP THESE STREETS CLEAN

  • Careful, Rob.
People might start to think that there's only room for [i]one[i] sheriff around here...

  • seems a bit like a witch hunt to me, anyone watch bad boys two the other night?

bought some stuff off this guy a while back and seemed like a genuinely nice guy , keen cyclist not a villain at all.

I rememeber someone posting that Ebay was a rip off a few months back and that people who wanted to extort money used it, certainly i dont want to travel from London to Scotland for a brake lever or pay £25 for a seat to be delivered and i wanted a track frame but could nt find anything for under £250 plus postage and was nt the whole idea of a classified section for this purpose. Infact i dont remember a there being any sort restriction in the registration process.

Anyway think its criminal this guy should be berated like this. Nice way to welcome newbies.

  • this is fucking brilliant!....i thought i was a cunt!

  • a newbie is someone who comes on the forum to join in on the fixed gear thing, not to just flog parts ;) . just the same as if i rocked up to polo, opened up my back of goodies and tried to peddlle my shit there. people would tell me to piss off!!

    PS aidan, you r :p

load of people come here looking to pick up tips on their first fix, best parts, riding tips etc

Lightisright is offering a bike up there with a 52x17 gearing, if people are tempted to buy that without any experience they might get a bit of a shock that could put them off exploring fixed or singlespeed any further

It does seem that he is using the forum just to sell a load of old tat and people like dogs, with a lot of experience in building bikes, has called him out on it -

not exactly a witch hunt just reacting in exactly the same way as if someone you didn't know walked up to you in a pub and tried to flog ya something

  • You wan DVD?! No? How bout Arrospok??

wayne, it should obviously be 50:14 gearing for newbs, sorry winston, 'novices'. :)

  • I think it is

If I was interested in what you had to sell and I could afford it I would be interested.
If I was not interested, that's fine also, someone else might be pleased to get their hands on a bike/lever/tyre etc etc.

I don't quite see the need to tell people to piss off.

I am always keen on promoting and supporting this kind of grassroots / back of a pub / forum classifieds / car boot sales / friend of a friend type trading - the people who go into apoplexy when someone here offers brake levers or track frames are the same one's who complain about Evans™ being such a large dominant corporate bike behemoth sucking the soul out of cycling.

Yet every time we tell someone to piss off with their goods to ebay or don't come down to polo and show us what bike parts you have to get rid of we are encouraging exactly this kind of shift towards ebay/Evans/Wiggle etc.

I see it here all the time, people only too keen to speak on behalf of everyone here and tell people to not show us what they have to offer.

  • trading b/w mates is cool, peddling no cool ;)

  • dogsballs trading b/w mates is cool, peddling no cool ;)

What do you mean by 'peddling' ?

  • +1 what is up with this "be sociable first" crap, if no one wants it then they won't take it.. it is after all why there is a classified section, people will be able to see this guy is a clown, have you seen the bike?

  • velocity boy That's a nice kettle you have there. How much for the kettle?

I found this comment very very hostile. God you can be so unkind to new boys and girls. Boo hoo. THE KETTLE IS NOT FOR SALE. Obviously. Not even my other courier-style kettle. Just this beautifully put together bike. The forks, the adjustible stem, sweeet (insert irony emoticon here please)

    that says it well.

anyway, the bloke posted the bikes, got some silly questions and a bit of piss take and some criticism and didn't like it.

the classifieds is there for members to sell specific items privately, he's done nothing wrong in that respect.

  • just noticed that along with the ridiculas gear ratio and mismatched components, the crancks have a really small spider, am i right in thinking that these are easier to rip apart on a fixed due to the amount of pressure and stuff or is that rubbish?

  • well i like that white frame looks like a smaller version of me old cannondale

  • danger joel just noticed that along with the ridiculas gear ratio and mismatched components, the crancks have a really small spider, am i right in thinking that these are easier to rip apart on a fixed due to the amount of pressure and stuff or is that rubbish?

yeah, small spiders are a bad idea for fixed, unless you like to continually fork out for chainrings. mate got through two in a year and he's not even into skidding and the like

  • I'm right with you Tynan, some of you guys are cold! its making the rest of us look bad

Arn't classified where you try to sell stuff?

P.S. I love those fluro forks

  • Wow! on a second look those comments are down right hostile.

Not only that but its the people who are most active on this site that are dishing out the insults. Arn't you trying to build a community? Shouldn't you be trying to pass on what you know to people who might still have learning to do or you think that somehow weakens you?

A slap on the wrist to all you meanies

  • oh, hello swift-ish........are you related???

  • The OP just pasted links and vague info - why not just put the actual advert text (complete with sizes + prices) here in the classified section? Posting a new topic with no information is annoying for all users.
And regarding the rudeness: had a potential buyer posted a link to that £175 bike and asked for advice whether it was worth buying, I would have said the same as my original post. So why hold back? I know it was rude, but I'd rather help prevent anyone who reads this forum from (IMHO) wasting money.
I've spoken to Left is Right and he seems a nice bloke, and unfortunately for him has been held up as an example of how not to get started on the forum.
I may have bikes to sell soon - If I exhaust my circle of acquaintances then I may post here explaining how much they cost me and details of condition then invite offers. If I wanted arrospok-dorrar then I'd post on gumtree with a sale price and put a cheeky link in the Ebay / craigslist finds thread. I think no-one would object to that netiquette.
