To be more precise - as I understand it - the wheel was actually driven over by a truck.
A friend of mine was there when it happened. Idiot in massive pickup truck (this took place in San Jose, California, so we're talking super-big truck), doesn't bother looking when parking and rolls straight over bike that's on kerb.
