  • might need to bring in those 90cm bars to make you feel comfy!

  • racers pay more to cover insurance and paperwork.....we thought it was gonna be three per rider but looks like it's gonna be only two.......everyone pays the same on the door, we don't want the actual racers themselves to pay any more than they actually have to to race....

  • heres the pic i used if anyone wants to do a better flyer

  • i have half done a flyer, just never got round to finishing it its about 80% done, will try and have it up by 2nie/moro

  • Is the race open to anyone? Don't think I'll do very well, but sounds like a good laugh.

  • yep, open to one and all.
    have a crack!

  • Put your bean down and have a spin, will be a great night.

  • Great stuff. Am I right in thinking that there is another one this month as well? Might get some practice in...

  • yep, this saturday at the Classic Car Club in Old Street.
    Think it starts at 8 - there's a thread on here somewhere…

    edit here

  • Can we have a link to Rollapaluza on the links page please? I had to resort to using google to find it.... honestly, can't get the staff these days ;)

  • How hard is it to type www . rollapaluza . com in the url?

Or am I missing something here?

  • well you seemed to have a problem doing it....it's got nowhere near that many spaces in it!

  • How do the sets of rollers compare?
The Rapha event used different ones?
What was the ratio used on the night?

  • the rapha roller race was in association with rollapaluza, so our rigs were used.......a second set (that we also sometimes use) were used for the have a go competition....but for qualification only, the knockout rounds were in the ring on the rollapaluza rig......therefore you can't compare the times, even if they had the same gearing ( they didn't) every rig is different and would produce different times....however I do have the all-comers who made it into the knock out rounds times from the rollapaluza rig, and will put them up soon....so then you will be able to compare.....A have a go rider set the fastest time of the night and also the new rollapaluza record.

  • What was the ratio on the second set winston?

  • I actually don't know, we didn't even bother to check ( the bike came with the rollers we borrowed) because all we were trying to do was make a comparison between the competitors......

  • I was only saying because some of the times from the moving target zine were very suprising.

  • All the Have-a-go times are on MT. Just in case you wanted to cut and paste from there.

Looks like the the Catford set is 20% slower. I think the time difference will be partly a shorter gear, but also smaller drum and less smooth worm gear and clock. The RP set is proper competition kit. Way better than the other two sets that I have used, Catford and Bec CC (which is/was really poor). The Catford set is pretty much a training roller set adapted for competition. That's why it always used to fall apart all the time.

The RP set really is top-notch, especially with the new drums.

I hope that loads of LFGSS peeps come down in December. It's going to be a fantastic night.

  • Agreed!

Simon's qualifying time on the Catford rollers was 23.66, he went on to post 19.8 on the Rollapaluza rollers

  • Looks like the the Catford set is 20% slower

does that mean my 30secs is about 24secs in the ring? ill take that! will do for a first go...and almost did a shane kelly when i got up to speed...not that im lookin for excuses ;)

party on the 15th should be a good laugh

  • Hmmm I did 26 sec on the Catford set at the bike show a few years ago, question is have I got faster or slower over the last few years :) ?

At least the weight I've put on won't come into it

  • If you look very closely you could prob count the teeth...

  • MA3K|³| How do the sets of rollers compare?

    Were you there?

  • The gearing doesnt really make any difference. Youll not be able to work out your time, It all changes every race. Besides which your performances will vary as you warm up (or get cold!) and when its head-to-head youll do better. The only strategy to employ is to get a hard first rev and keep going smooth with lots of muscle tension.

  • ma3k the gearing on the catford set-up looked around 42-44 : 15-16.

woohoo, i didn't come last in the qualifying.
