RPM I've just realised that 50x14 is around 93 gear inches.
Scary isn't it...

Hippy, when I did the Dragon in '05 you had to register the day before. I think last year a few entries were allowed registration on the day, maybe more of the same next year.
I stayed in a Travelodge near Swansea the night before, only cost £7 or something daft like that. Few funnt faces as I wheeled my bike into my room for the night, I was taking no chances leaving it in the boot of my brother's car!

Have you seen fyxomatosis andy's modified australian jersey? "track cnut" on it.. His site is down so I can't show you.
How much is the Aussie team kit? Can you even buy it? That'd be a pisser! -

Didn't say I wouldn't ride it though. You up for the challenge skinny man? ;)

Yep I want to get in some more longer rides. I think I would use my under used road bike for Wales though.:). Like I said we can hire a van or car depending on how many of us there are going, throw in the bikes and a couple of tents sorted. Easier than train e.t.c.
Want to do some more long rides before then though but that one looks like a good one should be some nice views.

So, could there be a Whitehorse challege group forming... suitably gear inched and puncture proofed of course... new thread?
-
• #411
I think hippy was on about the dragan thing but I would be up for both. Plus something before hand.
-
• #412
Definately up for more longer rides too but, as the only gears I have are on the MTB, it'll have to be rides which are do-able on one cog, and without damage to self!

I think it is better when we organise our own off-the-bat rides.
Saying that though would still be down for whatever. Thanks for the photos too d0cA.

£40ish for the jersey I suppose with postage. I could do that.
Good way to mark myself 'enemy' in any sportives I enter! :)Here's an Aussie one:
http://www.cyclingsports.com.au/summary.htm?Category=Team%20Clothing $129
http://www.bikesportz.com.au/products/santini/team/australia.html $129 (around £56)Looks like it's better to get over here..

You slanderous swine. You were feeling sorry for me. I'm taking it on the chin in a typical british stiff upper lip kind of way ;]

Oh yes, the "brakeless guy". Basically i met Paul thru eBay, funny thing i actually sold him a helmet.
He sent me an e-mail a few days ago with a picture of his new fixie and wondering what's up, and i told him about the ride.
He built up the bike like a couple of days before the ride and couldn't change the gears (50x14) - he said he went to Brixton Cycles to buy other sprockets but they didn't have it at the moment.
I told him to go with his Dolan road bike, but guess what, he did show up at the Hyde Park... with the fixie!
Think what happened was: he built up the bike, rode around the block with no brakes, thought it was allright and that he could make it to Brighton. I remember when we started the ride i tried to convince him to don't go and asked if he could skid with his bike.
Anyway... he is fine now, and oh the bike as well - he said just the saddle is a bit scratched :)

You do realise he is now called "50x14"
and if he comes back on this forum he MUST change his username to "50x14"
