  • and it doesnt even have a hood, theres no way im going to get that, even if i did have £140 spare.

  • wellllllllllllllllll
im going to be attempting my first jacket anytime now

just for me, see how it goes, if its all good then i'll get some clever fabrics in and make a few more.
thing is i dont yet know if i could keep it up?
i will have to do some sums if it turns out nice :)

the rapha jacket is nice though, but wtf is that price about.
people have mentioned them falling apart on many occasions as well :(

  • £140

    that's insane.

they all look the same when covered in piss/puke/shit/beer/curry/oil

  • RPM £140

    i guess, but......

  • but what?

you make clothes as good as your hats, you'll be a very busy man.

  • Looks great, typical cool Rapha style.. typical crazy Rapha price!

  • the merino base layers are brilliant though.

  • i have ordered mine. i only brought it to wind you cunts up.

  • the shirt or a base layer?

  • hold on - that is more o a jacket than a top, and it's lined with merino. if it's as well made as their other stuff, i don't think the price is that crazy, myself.

  • It also depends on where they're made... Howies' stuff, for example, ain't cheap either but neither is it made in sweat shops. I guess decent kit can only be so cheap and I always think that if something is real cheap then it's more likely that the cost saving to the consumer will have been paid by some poor sod somewhere else either through shite wages, conditions, disregard for environmental impact etc etc.

Anyone know whether Rapha's stuff is made with any regard to that kinda thing?

  • the shirt dickwad i want everyone to see it

  • been wanting to make a merino hoodie for awhile now, with a poly-breathable-something outer it would be even better.

anyone got a small or x-small old hoodie with a good fit i can butcher? i'll add articulation points etc as well, i need to get on it soon cause im getting cold lol

they regard it as disregard, I've heard. allegedly.

    fuck rapha.

    there, I've said it.

  • Howies stuff is made in China....

  • @ SMEEAR

You could do a great line in urban assault jackets with integrated padded tweed bum flaps - looking cool and polishing your saddle at the same time. ;)

(Tongue firmly in cheek. If you ever do make one, remember me when your famous)

  • My howies merino is made in NZ. And anyway, China's a big place... and not all run on child slaves I'm sure.

  • Everything's made in bloody China..

  • Yeah, some factories use adult slaves..

  • The whole point about Crapha is their price, would anyone give a toss if they weren't expensive?

  • if they moved out of london they could drop their prices a bit...

  • fixer The whole point about Crapha is their price, would anyone give a toss if they weren't expensive?

    Yes.

  • Their prices are not based on overheads, manufacturing costs etc, but on niche marketing.

So? the niche market wouldnt disappear if they lowered their prices and based them on overheads and manufacturing costs. i don't think the core rapha market would stop buying rapha if it got cheaper. They're missing a trick i think - the number of people who'd buy rapha on this forum if it was priced reasonably is a testament to this, surely
