How long will the ride will take? 80kms seems a really long way, but I've also got no idea how far I ride each day. It's about 35mins to and from work for me, so if this is going to be a 5 hour ride, I think it may be too much.
And will the normal Sunday social ride be going ahead? It seems a lot of the social ride crew will be doing this Brighton ride.
Come to Brighton. I did it in the pouring rain 5 months ago and that was only about a month after I started cycling. There are only about two nasty climbs - Turners Hill and Ditchling. Ditchling is only about a mile - watch for the name Pantani on the road and you know you've reached the end - and then it's a long dragging descent down to the sea.
These guys tell me I can do it (they aren't kidding when they say I'm crap at hills), and if I can, any regular cyclist can do it.
Have a hearty porridge breakfast, bring sweets - but make sure Hippo doesn't sniff them out.
