Looked at one in Harry Hall's.
Weighed a ton, sh1te wheels, especially rims, looks nice so if that's what's important GFI.
hope this helps.

clefty well after an age of postal strikes, finally got my new bronze conti gp4000's, complete bitch to get on, but am rather pleased with the result, they are a really good match for the saddle and bar tape.
OK it looks really cool, especially with the tyre upgrade. But how does she ride, Clefty? Are there any other upgrades you think you might do?

Picked the Titanium one up at the bike show to feel the weight, damned heavy was the answer.
The guy swears it was all due to the wheels but I wasn't impressed. -

well once i've got my tube nightmare out of the way (see other thread on tube explosions) she'll be sweet. I've read a lot of people think they are rather heavy, however this is my first ss/fixed and coming from a full size folder it feels like lifting air.
I find it great fun to ride, a lot happier now I have spd pedals on and it just feels sturdy, I dont know an awful lot about wheels, rims and wheel quality to be honest as I learn more that might be where i would upgrade in future, I just know that its fun and I like it. Saddle is comfy as, as well even for a girl.
I found the bar level a bit low for me, as i'm used to a more upright riding position so I flipped the stem on it and now its perfect. -

I don't know about it being THAT heavy either. On the weight post it wasn't that much heavier than the langster. (or have I mis-remembered)
It's about as light as my skinny steel italian geared road bike...
I didn't have much choice as it was the only fixed my lbs could do for me (I had a voucher). But I love it now.
As for upgrades, the rims LOOK really budget, so they could go. I'm adding TT levers for the bullhorns, after that???

Evilmonkey I don't know about it being THAT heavy either. On the weight post it wasn't that much heavier than the langster. (or have I mis-remembered)
It's about as light as my skinny steel italian geared road bike...The Plug frame and fork is perhaps double the weight of a Langster.
Built I've got no info. Please weigh yours and post to the frame weights thread I've just refreshed. -

i think the plug decals weigh about three tons. the tubing is perhaps 16 times that. the wheels weigh more than the bike and the rider. unless, of course, the rider's a fat bastard, in which case the mathematical formula needs to be recalculated. i saw this charge plug wheel in the street, i thought about taking it as a spare but realised it might not fit in my bag:

thats why i bought it, anti theft. :-P

i saw a charge plug parked on tarmac yesterday, it was slowly sinking. :)

dst I've had one for a couple of weeks.
first things first.....really need some new tyers. think the bronze gp4000 look good. but havent decided yet.
wheels are a bit shit. will replace them when i have the money. the BB is clunking along already. sounds like the one on my 9 yo, beaten the shit out of, mtb. evans are giving me a free service so i will let them know and see if a bit of grease sorts it.
gonna lop the last 4 inches of the bars. just to be different. need a bigger chainwheel too.
sounds like a great bike.

as a first ss/fix to try its good for me, I really didnt like the look/geometry of the langsters and wanted something a little different.
Now i already have ideas for a first build as ss/fix will, I think be a keeper for me but that can wait for a while :-)
i'm happy with my bedford bus..sorry Charge.. -

they look nice.
-
• #93
i expect if you change the tyres and then possibly the rims the charge is probably not that heavy.

The frame is still fuggin heavy.

On the bright side, riding such a heavy bike is making me fitter....
I'm with Clefty, love the look, wanted to give fixed a go, bought the big fella...
Does it make it better or worse that my wife's named it after this???
(including saying it in the funny voice...)
-
• #96
now thats just wrong..
I'm with you on the fitness though! -

Unfortunately the deal was, I get to buy the bike, she gets to name it...
uni (1 gear) and possibly also the horns helped.
It's better than my mountain bike, that got called Judy...
(It's all made better by Rory my road bike)
Does anyone else name their bikes???

Surely in the time honored tradition of English piss taking "slim" would be more appropriate?
yeh apparently the nice bar tape will be out in December at £8 quid a pop, my brown tape is starting to go a bit nasty...
