  • Like this, yeah, but with those inferior Italian parts instead of Shimano.. ;)

  • More like this :D

And don't start with the wheels, they wouldnt let me spec anything else :S Still they look cool, even if I am forever tightening one spoke on the back...

  • Must.. not.. make.. comment about.. silly.. lacing.. pattern..

I bought mine off ebay so I didn't have a choice with mine either :)

  • I'm toying with putting the front on the fixie for the bling factor... nah, that would just be silly

  • My Soma wheels are better than the ones on the road bike but a lot heftier.

  • Those look like openpro stickers, 32h? I'd have thought they'd be fairly bulletproof...

  • Nup, they're Mavic Cosmos, factory built (yuk), proprietory spokes (yuk), radial front, lower spoke count than I like (28r?/24f), cheap (yay), but so far no trouble.

I notice flex in the front radial 24h which is fair enough as I'm heavy. I really should swap wheels but these are still working so why bother?

  • Can anyone tell me the name of the online shop selling lots of track stuff, like white turbo seats and white double straps in the UK. Cant for the life of me find or remember the name of it. its pretty new i think.
    cheers

  • freshtripe?

  • yep, great thank you

  • cosmos are nice, even though the whole encased spoke thing deal is gay... whats with the spoke patterns on that ribble, can anyone explain me the point?

  • G3 lacing.. http://ligerowheels.wordpress.com/

My mate's Dad created his own or similar (with custom drilled rims), but it later appeared in Rolf Vector wheels..

  • but why use it on the front wheel, according to that article its about evening out tension for drive side/non drive side on the backwheel?

  • The lacing is different on the front: 2 spokes then 1 spoke then 2 spokes etc. On the rear, the drive side has 2 spokes in each group, the non-drive has 1.

  • ah yes hadnt noticed it was alternating sides on the front...

  • Just thought I'd mention the fact I've seen freshtripe ads twice in google mail now. Your sponsored links are working freshtripe.
    Vodka is great.

  • aidan i hate it when people say "nipped in the bud".....it sounds so........gay

and saying ' that bay boy' doesn't sound 'gay' I suppose

  • Hubjub is unmatched. If you ask Will a question, you're guaranteed to get a well-thought-out, thorough answer. All my orders have landed on the doormat within three days. Then there's the personalised receipts, too. It's so much better to deal with a person, instead of a customer service drone. Bravisimmo Hubjub! :-)

Has anyone used Byers Cycles? I know they're not an online outfit in the sense that you can't place an order over the web, but they do have a list of stuff on their site and are supposed to do mail order. Fine in theory. I tried to get them to pick up the phone for a whole week in August. Did they answer? Did they bollocks. What's that all about? Businesses that don't want to sell anything...

  • Ribble have gone down hill, I've had so much trouble with them recently.
    http://www.cyclingbargains.com are helpfull.

  • I have always used CRC and WIggle (MTB stuff) with zero problems and great service.

Before reading this topic I was about to do a first order with Ribble as they are super cheap on some stuff.

Is the general consensus forget it and go to Parkers (never used them either).

  • I've used ribble plenty of times without problems, but most of the time i'm buying simple things that I dont need any form of customer service with - tyres etc.

  • It's not that sort of customer service I need - more worried that I order on-line, pay the money and a few days later the correct parts arrive on my doorstep as they do with Wiggle, CRC etc. And in the rare event they get it wrong (once in 20 odd orders with these two) they sort it out calmly and quickly with no fuss.

Is this likely to not happen with Ribble?

  • I've made around 6 orders with ribble (including a full bike), not had an issue so far.

  • slamm +1 on Bonthrone avoidance.
I used to do work for them (product catalogues etc) and they were a frickin' nightmare.
Certainly would put me off getting anything through them.

    badtmy had nightmares with them.

love chainreaction (free del) or wiggle next day delivery.
hubjub is good when they have stock

  • Just put another order in with ribble: CHEAP!
