do you have the miche cranks and bb? i found my bb had worked loose so popped into brixton cycles on my way home and brought the campag bb tool. tightened it up with no problems. i would check the bb as there is no flange on the cups so sometimes they can work loose, worth checking after a year. (you will need a crank puller too)

campag BB tool is like £35, stuff that.

I reckon it might be something to do with going fixed and not changing chain at the same time as the sprocket (this also justifies the purchase of a half link chain - anywhere other than Hub Jub have these?). The noise is doing my nut - I pride myself on a quiet ride. Again, thanks for the input, we can continue the analysis with the offending bike present on Sunday's social ride.

dogsballs campag BB tool is like £35, stuff that.
4.99, it wasn't made by campag or park tools but it's perfect for the job.
mouse you have a pista don't you? or am i confusing you with somebody else? anyway you don't need a halflink chain with sliding drops

Yep that's me - the one that's about 10kg heavier than yours! Re chain: I know but they look kinda cool if you've got to buy a new one anyway...

just get an izumi or vertex and stop being silly
mine just got lighter with the addition of an easton ec90 carbon post :-)

andrewleitch86 i get this noise too, do you think it might be the bottom bracket? has your noise died down?
-
• #85
The chain was too tight and that's what the noise from the chain was. The rear noise has died down though.

Thats good to hear, its a bit worrying at first

andrewleitch86 So my Fuji Track came today. It's nice but I can see why it's the cheapest production bike. The tires look and feel like they're from a toy bike. Everything went together nicely after cleaning some threads but I get a lot of noise from the drivetrain. At low rpm it seems to come from the rear (a clicking sound) but then as the speed increases the whole drivetrain starts making a periodic buzz sound and I can see the chain vibrating quite a bit. That's all with no load on the bike. When I'm actually on the bike the pedal feel is fine but the clicking sound is still there.
Hi there, I got myself a fuji track. Good bike, tyres are good once you pump them to the correct pressure (Me its around 85 psi).
I get the same clicking noice but only when the left peddle is under load. Dont know how to fix it but will try more lube as suggested by RPM.

good frame, the other bits are cheap. the tyres aren't much good on the road they get punctured too easy; you'll prob need to change the ratios as 48/16 is a bit tall. get some stronger back wheel spokes. the seat post bolt broke a couple of months back so that was funny to watch.. i get thru about 3 chains a year; new ones make noise at first but disappears after a short time while it runs in. besides, that's a good noise only a fixed can make ;)

I pump my tyres up to about 110-120psi. I weigh less than the bike though. I've not replaced anything but the cog. Changed to an 18T. Maybe going tot change the chain ring down but can't really be bothered right now.

If you weigh less than the bike, and sometimes ride on less-than-immaculate-tarmac/wood/concrete, you might find closer to 100psi is a bit more comfy.
Don't feel, er, pressurized to change though :S

i just keep pumping until it feels hard between my fingers.

andrewleitch86... thanks for your input on the fuji track, i've been reading all the threads and it's getting delivered on thursday. Need to get on teh road fast so I went for the fuji over self build. It;s no BJ but at that price.. hell yeah.
So i've got as littel cash to play with as you by the sound of it so any tips on replacement bits and pieces then i'm all ears. now.. where's that electrical tape?... -

I've yet to replace anything on mine apart from the cog on the back. I ideally want to get a complete campagnolo group and cinelli stem and handlebars but that'll be a way off I think. Then a custom BJ frame to top it all off. Seems that Vittoria Rubinos are a good first upgrade because the Kenda tyres are pish pish pish. I've put up with them for now but I think I'll buy some Rubino's with my next wage. A brake setup is definitely worth the investment though. My recommendation:
Shimano 105 Front
Cane Creek Cross Top Levers (26mm) / Specialized Cross Top Levers (26mm) / Tektro Cross Top Levers (26mm)
Brake Cable KitI got the Cane Creek levers which were £25 and split the pack with a mate. You could get a Brake Cable kit and a set of Cross Tops and then sell the other half on for about £15 ish.

cheers mate, yeah i'll get the most out of the tyres before I replace and i've got a box fresh 105 cheap from wiggle (came without instructions but was under 15 delivered. Can't grumble on that one). I've not really got the cash for the pair of cane creeks and wait to flog so I've seen a single for 12 which I'll grab tomorrow with a cable. So i reckon i'll wrack on a brake and fit my spd's and that'll be me on the road once again for the next year till I save the chedders for some other parts. I'll check out the rubinos.
Many thanks again for your comments and i'll let you know how it goes.

Hi mate, did you put a flat bar on your Fuji track? Do you know what diameter the handlebar is? I've got a bike on the way and want to get bits for it already! Cheers.
-
• #99
I read it was 31.8mm but it looks more like 25.4mm because my mates Bianchi pista is 26mm and the Fuji handlebar looks slimmer
-
• #100
yeah I saw 31.8mm on a website showing specs of the Track Pro but that model uses different bar/stem combination.
It's always the fscking saddle.. unless it's the bars.. the rest might be making noises but I ignore them coz they ain't gonna get any attention anyway :)
