Oh fuck, I'd better get fit quick (and hope university and paediatric placement don't do their germy business on me).
BTW, Catford starts at 11am, Bec at 2pm. Streetmap thingies (arrows point to finish):

brett Borough Market meet up, followed by this?
(I've been given local advice for bit from West Wickham to Yorks Hill)sounds good to me brett - didn't drill down into the map too far but probably spins pretty near my gaff. for ease though i will just get down to borough market if that's what everyone is happy with. nice one.

Bringing this back from the dead (sorry BMMF!!).
Anyone know the exact start and finish points of the hill? Might (and that's a big might) ride out to the hill this morning from Maidstone-way.
Thanks in advance

Glad this got bumped - everyone still up for riding down? And is anyone down for riding up?
Might have to be quite an early start if we're to make it by the 11am off. -

Thanks for that BMMF, I'd left before you posted, and checked via my mobile, but it couldn't download the Streetmap site. I took the start at the farm buildings just south of your start (literally a few yards, nothing else), so pretty much bang on.
Conditions were Ok today, only a few leaves, and the usual wet tyre tracks down each side from vehicles. Lost traction once, on the first ramp.
The time? I won't bother with that!

I kind of guessed the start based on distance. It might be a bit further down than those farm buildings, but around there, yes (I've obviously repressed the memory).
Hope you 'enjoyed' it ;)

I've just started reading 'one more kilometre and we hit the showers' or whatever the title is.. and it mentions hill climbs and the whole culture, tradition and time-tabling behind english cycle racing. Quite cool so far.
Says something along the lines of 'hill climbs are more like festivals for the knowledgable fans that line up alongside the crappy roads and cheer riders all the way up'. Sounds fun. Not at all like a Melbourne hillclimb tt :) -

Oh I enjoyed it all right, but only about 5 minutes after I reached the top!! No wonder you hear so many cyclists coughing throughout October and November.

I was out with the Catfords today, they have 90 entries for the Hill Climb.
The start is a recess [false layby] on the left up past the farm entrance they have put a couple of nails in the tarmac at the edge to mark the start.
Good luck to anyone riding and see ya there :) -

Fixedwheelnut I was out with the Catfords today
They're a lovely couple - much friendlier than the Huntingdon-Smythes :)

Count me in.
Are we meeting outside Borough Tube Station?
Also what time? -
• #49
Most likely an 8:30 off, I'd say (seeing as we're likely to get lost, or something)
I'll try and prepare some more detailed route info to hand out on the day (and adjust / repost my map to avoid a very uncomfortable left turn down a nice steep hill)
Borough Tube's prob a good idea for exact meet up. Damn market doesn't open til 9 so bring your own goodies.
BMMF - hope the training's gone well, best of luck! -

BMMF: What's with your team name? Doesn't sound like no xxxx CC to me..?
