some of the ss freewheels have 4 blocks machined onto the inner shell, never seen the tool to get it out, but suppose a hammer and a screwdriver would work.

jashburnham
andrewleitch86 I've got a 16T 1/8" you can have for a fiver. Whisper if you want it.
Thanks Andrew, i'll try a 15 first but will def keep your offer in mind. Is the sprocket new? Also what tools do I need to change a sprocket on a SS. I have a chainwip and a shimano/campy cassette removal tool...
I totally misunderstood. I thought you were wanting to change the fixed side aswell. If you decide you want a 16T 1/8" fixed sprocket for a fiver then let me know. It was stock on my Fuji and was ridden about 20 miles.

If you want a better idea of speeds given from various combos and cadences then this little tool is pretty handy.

Cheers, that's exactly what I needed! Reckon I'll go for the 16T after all.

Jash - think I'm a few weeks ahead of you (and still riding ss having managed about an hour fixed on Sunday before deciding I'm not ready for stop/start traffic on it yet). I'm running 48/18 and also had the frustration of spinning out too easily on the flat. It takes a little while to get used to, but I'm really appreciating the acceleration you can manage off the lights and you do learn to spin faster on the flats. I've only been overtaken twice now, both times by other ss's and on each occasion I was able to up my cadence and tuck in for the free ride. I think you just learn to ride differently (and my full aero tuck on descents is definitely improving!). Getting back on the road bike almost feels like cheating, it's so much lighter and easier.
3 miles isn't much - maybe you should lengthen your commute..

A lockring spanner works fine for removing freewheels.

I'm with John on this one. You have a small picture of a Viking mask and a big picture of a guy on a bike.

Someone else posted this - I think in 'fav cycling pictures' thread - uncanny similarity!
BMX cassette tools have four splines so you need the bmx tool not the roadie one.
