  • fatboyralph my work is in lombard street. lucky for me there's a carpark downstairs where i can store my bike. but loads of ok bikes locked around bank/monument stations and tiny side streets. incl a newish trek road bike which seems to survive the day chained outside bank station. once saw a specialized dolce there with the front wheel unlocked...and even that didnt get stolen.
maybe would be theives feel out of place with the no of suits passing through the place

Maybe but the sheer number of people at LSS mean it'd be easy to stroll up, pick lock and disappear.
As for other places where bikes don't seem to disappear.. maybe they are replaced by insurance the next day :)
How long are they locked there? I'd be locking around the same time every day. Pretty easy for a cyclist who also locks up there to eye off my Phils or the lovely TI Raleigh paintjob and think "Ooh I'll have that". Surely not all bike thefts are desperate smack heads?
