  • Strip down.. paint.. ?

That's what permanent black markers were invented for!
Got kids? Make it a colouring game for them while you watch the football. :)

  • Black plumbing tape will take care of it easily

  • turpe My advice, as a Fuji Track owner, is to paint the fucker ASAP. Because it will not be long before the fact that it says 'Fuji' on every single bloody tube starts to drive you mental.

Strange how we have our own foibles. I understand what you're saying, but I just don't see mine anymore, and it never bothered me.

I've upgraded my drivetrain -- Sugino cranks, ring and bb, and a Surly rear sprocket. There is a big difference in the smoothness.

  • You reckon the Fuji has logos everywhere, you guys should check out some roadie kit.
The Fuji logos are practically invisible when compared to some of the carbon offerings from the last 5 years.. :)

  • heh.. I just removed the wheels, bars and seat, wrapped a bit of newspaper around the chainset and sprayed it.. works ok for me!

  • i would look at upgrading the wheels, fork , and then the frame. these are the things that will make a big difference to the bike.

  • megaman2016 Black plumbing tape

    don't you mean electrician's tape?

  • MrSmith i would look at upgrading the wheels, fork , and then the frame. these are the things that will make a big difference to the bike.

LOL. not a fan of the Fuji i take it

  • never seen a fuji :-)

  • I bought a Fuji Track, but hated the graphics. I found this one on Flickr, and asked the guy how he did it.

He was really helpful, and sent me this message. I asked him if I could repost it here in case it helped anyone.

Since i've never seen an amateur paint job on a bike i've liked... i opted to cover the bike with scrap gloss black vinyl from a local vinyl sign shop (they're easy to find, look em up in the phonebook, internet, or industrial parks have shitloads of graphics guys)... ask them if you can buy some scrap pieces off of them they cant use that have been already cut from the jobs and cant be re-cut or re-used... they usually throw em away too (you could dumpster dive some... ) but usually they're cool enough to give you some...

the decals on the bike are under a layer of clear coat and aren't removable.. i did remove the fuji badge on the front cos it honestly looked cheap and kinda tacky.... (was raised off the front tube about a millimeter and looked chinese as shit... cough cough)

but to cover the bike, it takes a little practice, and even after i was done, there were still some wrinkles, but i tried to keep those on the undersides of the frame tubes where it isn't even noticable.

just take the scraps. and mark em w/ a pencil on the paper side that peels off by wrapping them around the tube and taking measurements (that way you know they fit before you cut and try to apply), then use a t-square and ruler or whatever to make sure you can cut the strips straight. then, when applying, if you choose to even do this...

is just uncover a centimeter or so of the complete edge of the strip, and apply it only a little bit at a time, making sure no wrinkles get in there, make sure to get enough scraps to do it a few times, it will take a little longer... but, it looks badass, and... it's easily removable, doesnt leave adhesive residue, and also protects the original paintjob....

    good luck...

Oh yeah, if you were to buy some from them, it might at th emost cost you like $10-$20

    The result when I tried it was this;

  • er....

i kind of like my "chinese as shit" fuji. i see it as a classic marque, and i like the fact that their bikes are so darn cheap. the best way too de-uglify the fuji is not repaint it but ditch the revolting saddle, stem and bars quick sharp.

  • Just don't have the new ones rotated to fsck like that guy's. DIY kidney surgery waiting to happen. :)

  • who needs vital internal organs anyway?

    kidneyenger

  • wow i like it! looks much better than the black electricians tape i just put on. mattsparkes where did u get the vinyl from??

  • this guy de-uglied his fuji quite well I think:

    bling

  • the ugly thng about fujis 's the stem, change that the saddle and the bars and you'll be sweet

  • Stef the ugly thng about fujis 's the stem, change that the saddle and the bars and you'll be sweet

nothing sums it up better than this

  • peejay78 er....the best way to de-uglify the fuji is not repaint it but ditch the revolting saddle, stem and bars quick sharp.

i quote myself from earlier in the thread summing it up better.

    ;)

  • mmmm, paul component cranks. shit, they're hard to get a hold of. i'm after a black pair 48T 165mm ;)

  • That crank is the tits!

Really dumbarse question but what is that 'sweatband' on the toptube for?

  • Protects the tt if the drops swing round and bang it.

  • photoben Protects the tt if the drops swing round and bang it.

    Ahhhh, thanks

  • Meh, there was a lot of cussing of that white Fuji, because it was kind of like an NJS build without the NJS frame. Sort of like one of those kits where you dress up a Toyota MR2 to look like a Ferrari.

Personally, I quite like it - apart from the gold. Same components in chrome and I'd be happier.

  • How is that NJS build? Surely all that gold shit isn't NJS? I thought they only allowed silver and champagne components and those cranks are US-made.
Are Paul Comp NJS? I'm 'guessing' no? The DeepV and the spoke pattern.. is there anything on that bike NJS? :)

supposedly the black sugino 75 crankset is not NJS because it's black??? WTF, yet champagne, silver are..
