I consider myself spectacularly lucky in dodging 2 £30 fines in the past week! One for riding on the pavement to get round a bus, the other for jumping a red light on theobald's road. The first guy was obviously quite new, and I managed to talk him down (he just pretended to see a "crime" in the distance and walked off purposefully). The second one was a police car, got the siren & flashing lights and everything (quite cool). Guy marches out all angry threatening to arrest me if I lie about my name (?!). I just say sorry, hand him some ID, then talk to him about riding fixed. He and his pals drive off all smiles & waving!
I think i must look incredibly pathetic or something, and people just feel bad about fining me!
