I like riding bikes and I like putting bikes together. So I built my current ride. So what? I know lots of people who like riding bikes but don't like putting them together. So they go to a shop. So what? If I didn't like putting bikes together I'd go to a shop. At the end of the day, it's pretty hard to make it cheaper yourself anyway if you don't have the time to spend hours tracking down bargains/secondhand parts/etc.
