  • Here are some nice big pictures for you guys to look at. Hope you like it. I can't quite afford to build it up just yet.... When I ordered it in April I over estimated what my funds would be by the time the frame arrived :-( So, I have to sit and stare at it for a couple of weeks!

  • That's lovely Jon, I personally prefer the gothic style logo but still, that's a sweet, sweet frame... Nice one! :)

  • that looks sweet. look forward to seeing it completed.

  • teenslain That's lovely Jon, I personally prefer the gothic style logo but still, that's a sweet, sweet frame... Nice one! :)

I realised that I prefer it too..... but I'm sure it'll get a re-spray at somepoint in the next few years, I'll change it then

  • wow - how much did that set you back?

  • With headset £580

  • Nice... that logo is way nicer than the traditional one tho!

  • I got so fed up of looking at it that I dismantled my Peugeot and put the drive onto the Mercian...... It is indeed an incredible ride!! I'll get some pictures up soon.

  • I like the decals - simplistic and classic against the white frame..
I can imagine how seeing that frame every day just waiting for a build would drive a man crazy!!
April - M - J - J - A -September.. Thats roughly 5 months from paper to street - I bet if you're not at work then you're out riding it riiiight.. NOW!

  • that frame looks divine! i can hear the hymns from the mercian angels...

  • So simple, so sweet....so glad you got the seat post sorted

  • I already know what my next bike's gonna be..

    That's just beautiful.

  • the-smiling-buddha So simple, so sweet....so glad you got the seat post sorted

Yes, I used the original Dura Ace that I bought for it... When I called Mercian again saying that I had fitted at 27.0mm instead of a 27.2mm they said I should try again with the 27.2mm.... They talked me through how it should feel.... it should be, according to them, very tight so that all that is needed is one turn on the pinch bolt. That's what happened. I was so glad cause th edura ace post is soooooo light compared to the Nitto one I had, it's almost thrice as light!

edmundane ...i can hear the hymns from the mercian angels...

I'm not sure whether it's because it's a proper steel track geometry thing or because it fits me so well, but it feels amazing. The back end, which is fag-paper clearance, just pulls in behind u when u make a move..... u can actually feel it I swear! It pulls you straight at every possible oppertunity!

Also, I need to get some better components onto it.... a Decathlon front wheel doesn't really do it justice :-0 I'm gonna build up a Miche Primato I think.... just about all I can afford.... I'd go for something better, but I want sealed so that I can ride in the rain, and I hate the look of Phil Woods.

I'll get some pictures up very soon..... It's got risers on it I'm afraid.... I can hear the gasps of disapproval as I type.... (I just don't use the drops on the road) :-)

    xx

  • gasp

  • I know u love them hippy..... I may go to Drops, cause the risers look a bit weird, I cant quite place it, but there's something not quite right.... I don't know whether I can justify Drops though, as I only ever use the straight tops.

  • go for a very long ride, on a windy day.

you'll soon want to change hand position

  • I do love risers... on my mountain bike! :)

  • They are just so comfortable though......

  • So are Farah slacks and carpet slippers.

  • And so are fat birds.

Wouldn't wanna be seen riding one though.

  • Pay that! :D

  • I feel bad riding with drop bars when all I use is the tops.... surely that's worse.... I'd only be using drops because they look good on this type of bike???

kowalski So are Farah slacks and carpet slippers.

I'd ride in Farahs any day of the week!

  • When you ride longer than across town it's nice to move your hands to the sides, to the hoods (if you have 'em) and when it's blowing a gale or you're chasing the taxi that just cut you up the drops come in handy. Plus they don't look like risers :)

  • hi everyone, i recently received my vigorelli from mercian. and there seems to be what sounds like metal fillings rattelling around the top tube. also the paintjob is not perfect thin at the points where its most likely to chip, ie the head tube, bb and seat clamp area around the edges.you can sort of see the colour of the metal faintly. i kind of lack the confidence for phoning the guys up to express my concern or anoyance. i could be being a bit fussy, i dont know. does anyone have any thoughts?

  • Dont be timid - call them.
The internet cannot help you! ;-0
