The face'll be fine after a long weekend of drinking in the west country (I don't mean Acton). At the moment I'm thinking about how to spend 500 quid of insurance. The bike was locked to a lamp post with one of these but it had the plastic covering. It went with the bike.
Might have to get a nice new/old steel frame?

Oh well, at least you get a pay-out on your insurance. Must've been keen to cut through that lock.
Have fun in the West Country... -
• #105
Double bummer DDM. Good that you were well insured though, dont spend it all on beer. Any identifying features on the Langster ? Usually the f&ckwits that nickem are too dim to alter the recognisable features!

Just the bullhorns and bonty brake levers
It's busy in Holborn at lunch time so I think whoever it was must have somehow picked the lock.

Sh!t sorry to hear that. Best of luck atleast it is insured like other have said. Every time time I hear of things like this I want to start a vigilante group up.

Dunwich Destroyed Me went over the handlebars and then continued to brake with my face! 7 stitches.
shit DDM, i hope the scar won't mean you will lose out on your lucrative sideline in doubling for Jeremy Irons.
shame about getting the wheels nicked dude. that sucks.

Thanks guys, fortunately jonny I'm doing roaring trade as a John Merrick impersonator in the meantime.
Just spoke to the insurance company and I should be ok. I'll let you know what I spunk the cash on. -
• #110
out of curiosity, what company was it insured with?
-
• #111
Zurich on my house insurance. Up to £500 pounds of unspecified bike.
-
• #112
what if the bike is worth over 500?
could buy a cheap mtb from halfords and insure it get it stolen claim 500quid then spend it on a mercian frame! -
• #113
everytime I see this thread with new posts a feel a little gutted for the victims forunately no new thefts this time!

Old, old story.
Some malicious person swiped my seat. No matter that it was cut and slashed with knives already, so basically has nil resale value.
Anybody got a lead on sourcing a cheap/free seat and 25mm stem?
I am checking out all the skips come across of course.
The bike only cost £20 but it does the job, so the seat has to cost max a fiver, or I bin the whole thing and find another. -

Where are you located bibi?
-
• #117
Daytime, in W1.
-
• #118
In that case, do you want this saddle..

My gf just got home and said she saw two guys using 4ft-long bolt-cutters to take a bike from near Greenford station.
She asked them if it was there's and they told her to get lost - obviously she's not gonna go further with her interrogation being a lone female!
This was happening 20m away from the bus station opposite Greenford Station.. with plenty of people around.. -
• #120
what the f*ck!! good on her for doing that...
-
• #121
Yeah but she's not going to achieve much.. two guys, one big one.
20 people at nearby bus-stop didn't deter them, she's not going to.
Maybe I should buy her an AK47 for her next commute? -

had the same done to me on 3 occasions, it's irritating to say the least. -

Hippy, that is a great looking saddle, and would put to shame the rest of the machine!
If I don't find one off a wrecker this weekend I will have it, if it fits my frame and budget.
Thanks for the kind offer.1bhp, I looked and looked, but can't find "SS Wheels and bits"…
My approach to avoiding the attentions of thieves is to slip under the radar if possible.
Consequently my bike works perfectly fine, thank you, and looks like a pile of crap.
That is why I am so pissed that someone stole something off it which was worthless. I made a search of all the bins and light wells nearby, I half expected to find it just tossed away. -
• #124
bibi, use the search function.

What's with BrickLane at the weekends? Do they sell second-hand/stolen bikes down there? Market stall?
Damn man! That blows! I think we should hunt down and kill all Langster riders just to make sure you are avenged :)
I think you should change your name to "Yesterday Destroyed Me".
