anth Hills? This is London we're talking about innit? ;)
Come along and find out. It's not exactly the North Downs, but... :-o

Another great ride. Perfect weather, not too many idiots awake and on the road, climbs galore. Fixed gear is the perfect match for short sharp British climbs - the bikes fucking love it. Hope to see a few new faces next time we go...

Too right!!!
Great ride again. Although I'm left desparately toiling every time I fucking love it. It's good for you, don't be afraid of a few hills, it's character building!! -

I'm thinking about doing this again on Saturday - weather looks okay.
9am at Regents Park (usual spot by Glos Gate), setting off by 9.15am. Only an hour or 2, once or twice up the usual suspects. 46x18 so my poor pensionable knees don't hate me later in the day. I'll switch to a 17t if everyone else is in the low 70s.
jonny, lpg, brett, etc...?

"70k - Easy ride".. so, could be up for this. If the weather is nice though I'd be wanting to ride the Spesh.
I need to get as much time on it as possible. It will also allow me to fulfill the "easy" part of my plan. -

I would like to join you guys and have a go at this. Do Highate hill every night on my 48:17 so should be ok. You aint thinking about doing Swains lane though are you ;)
Can you post a link to the meeting point please if this is a goer.
-
• #34
Okay, I think I'll switch to 46x17, and hippy can choose whatever the f*ck he wants with his derailleur contraption. That way I'll be able to empathize/sympathize with mikec.
Yes, Swains Lane will be on the agenda. Not racing up it or anything though. Just 'leisurely' :)
Thanks for posting the link, Brett. Hope you can make it along.

sorry BMMF, want to do this. we have spoke of it. but i am out of town this weekend. if you want to repeat it next weekend i am all over it.
-
• #37
Yeah, 2 weeks of hills is not an unappealing prospect to grimpeur sickoes like me.
I'll stick it in my diary for both weeks :)
-
• #38
might come down to this, will replace the two laps of richmond park i was going to do, I'll more than likely be going geared, I fear the hills fixed at this point in time...
-
• #39
hills suck. the only reason you guys are doing this is so hippy wont feel so alone trying to lose all that excess weight.
;)
-
• #40
BMMF - nice one - saturday 16th it is then dude.
cornelius - do it geared this saturday, fixed the next. you know you want to. -
• #41
chris crash hills suck.
Flats suck. The only flat worth fixing is a puncture.
-
• #42
I've got to do lots of north london on friday, including highbury to just past east finchley..
fuck's sake, I'm going to get nosebleeds..
and I sense..hills...
-
• #43
yeah Scarlett i'll come.
(46x17)

@lpg - cool, see you then.
@RPM - if you ride straight up Holloway then Archway Rd etc, it's the flattest route up to East Finchley. Nothing you (one) would call a hill...
... except there's this weird phenomenon as you pass under the shadow of suicide bridge (the 'Archway') that feels like London is reluctant to release you from its grasp. I think London's relationship with its longterm inhabitants is the same as lovers doing the asphyxiation-almost-to-the-point-of-death-at-orgasm thing. Not that I'm into all that shit, mind. Hmmm.
-
• #45
cool, I remember the archway roundabout from years back..but not much else
I might still call it a hill though
-
• #46
look forward to the bridge thing too.
luckily I won't be up there for very long
-
• #47
Thats called gravity BMMF.
But yeah I know what you mean I hate leaving London. I feel a bit odd once I get North of Barnet
-
• #48
I didn't think gravity kicked in till at least 10% ;)
I still reckon it's something urbanosadomasochistic.

So are we still up for doing this tomorrow? Need to plan my night around it. ie no alcohol if we are or get smashed if we are not!
My new years cutting back on alcohol resolution is not going tremendously well so come on! -
• #50
I'm not going to make it tomorrow unfortunately - but I'm 100% there next weekend.
Have a good one, whoever makes it out - weather looks peachy.
;-)
