    Jelly beans - to share
Peanut butter sandwiches - for me

If there's room, I'll pack a small bottle of scotch, to celebrate, and to bribe people who help me fix p***t*r*s.

  • Ok so I went and did some "training" today. 50 miles it is to Reading from my place. My advice: bring much food and eat it before you think you need it, or else you're in trouble!

  • Welcome to Club Bonk!
I was quite delerious after today's ride. Body going hot and cold. Knew I needed sugar and fast. Busted through the door and into some Bassetts Snakes. Saved.

  • something tells me that it would be a bad idea to do it...i'm starting to have second thoughts...don't really want to chicken out but don't really want to faint on the way or lose 5 kilos overnite....what to do???

  • Stef something tells me that it would be a bad idea to do it...i'm starting to have second thoughts...don't really want to chicken out but don't really want to faint on the way or lose 5 kilos overnite....what to do???

    Err.. carry food! :)

  • And don't underestimate those gels and energy bars, they will get you through the times when you're feeling weak. Take flapjacks too.

Eat and drink before you need to, little and often is the rule. Avoiding bonking is EASY providing you do something about it before it happens. That said, it's a night ride, you won't sweat as heavily, so don't drown yourself in water. You'll only need to drink a few litres on a ride like this. So carry something around the 1.5l or 2l mark to get you through, top up at the feeding station.

It's not too scary a ride, just be prepared and take it easy.

  • I am going to bring two types of food

    1. pastys (food of the kings)

    2. flapjacks

    and maybe some dried bananas.

    Sorted.

  • TheBrick(Tommy) I am going to bring two types of food

    1. pastys (food of the kings)

How do you go transporting these? Hot/cold? Plastic container?

  • pockets 8^)
