My Soma is 1" Ahead. It's quite easy to get 1" steerer forks, 1" ahead. My Raleigh is 1" threaded with a cheap stem.
I will go ahead 1-1/8 on all future bikes (I like modern looking stuff.. "retro is like so like dated, ya!") unless I get a deal no an older bike in which case I'll just deal with 1" threaded. Ahead all the way. So much easier to deal with. Tonnes of stems and forks. Don't flare your steerer tube. Don't get rusted in. All the ones I've seen have removable face plates. Flip-able so you have two angles per stem. Blah blah.. etc etc..
