i'm a minimalist freak too but i'll go with lugs on a steel frame any day. just don't paint the luglines and get one colour. they look better in a sense than TIG welding because there won't be any of those smudgy weld at the joints. you can get away with that sometimes but if you really look closely you'll always find them.
see velocity boy's yellow bob jackson or rakan's white bike (both have pics on the forum) if u're not convinced about what i say.
