I was taking the piss BUT now i think about it, it keeps your stuff dry and makes things easy to separate. Mostly for touring when ripping bits and pieces out of panniers in the rain..
In fact, I have three plastic bags in my crumpler - clean clothes, cycling clothes, tools. Not for waterproofing I just don't want my soaked kit getting all over my clean clothes.
Tools in separate bag make it easy to take them out when not cycling.
Course I wouldn't expect the stylers here to do something practical that hampers their image :P
