  • Thanks for the info Tommy, from what I read it would appear to be ok, or atleast not too bad. I'm the type of guy who will walk on the grass after reading the 'don't walk on the grass sign'. So, I think I will lace radially after reading the 'don't lace radially' sign.

Does anyone have any experience with radially laced Dura-Ace HB-7600's? particularily the 32 holes. Might keep the rear crossed both sides though. Hmmm...

  • Do not run radial on the rear, the spokes can not trasfer the torque to the rim, also don't bother with asymetric lacing in the rear on a single speed or fixed wheel, the point of asymetric lacing is to halp even out the strength diffrence resulting from uneventention of a dished wheel. Radial is ONLY for the front.

  • Campag give the same warning about their road hubs, but I had a 28 spoke radial front wheel on a c. 1990 campag hub, and it was fine for years. When it did go (in about 1999) it was crack in the flange around one of the spoke holes, so I think you have to accept that risk when you build radial. I would guess that with a 32 hole high flange, you'll be fine for ages (as long as you're not too porky!)

  • Was there a chance it was already loose? This is an alternative theory that certainly isn't impossible..

  • 100% no chance.

  • Thing is with bike thieves, most of them will either be doing it to order or choosing an item to steal which they can get the most money for. Sounds like you have desirable wheels. They probably didn't know what hub it was but was attracted to the deep V's. If there's a load of nice bikes together chances are the owners will be very close by and you'd have thought they wouldn't even bother. If they were desperate they would've gone for the nearest wheels I guess. It could've been sabotage!!! Someone wanting you to have an accident rather than stealing your wheels!...
Either way, Bricklane is the most dodgy fucking area going. People don't give a shit. I doubt another cyclist would attempt to nick your wheels. Theives go out looking for items to complete the bike they're building up to sell. A nice wheel might get them an extra few quid. They'll have the tools needed and might plan to take the bike to a different town. I bought a bike from eBay about 3 years ago and when it arrived all the parts were completely different and it had been treated very badly for a decent bike. I reported it and got them banned. Couldn't get money back. Had it for 2 weeks and then it got nicked!

  • i say it's someone that knows you trying to wind you up easy as it seems, i was dead worried of my post and saddle but both my wheels were secured...as always
