What would be the ultimate bike? An FGSS special

Imagine if FGSS had it's own frame! Or it's own bike!
What would it look like?
The best bits from each frame builder etc?
The perfect frame and what parts?
Pics would be good.

If you put everything into a huge melting pot, wouldn't you end up with a big loump of metal, smelling of burnt rubber?

There is no ultimate bike.. there are only more cool bikes for different purposes..

Agreed. But does that mean you'll ever be satisfied? Once you get what you want something else comes along...
So basically there's no such thing as the perfect bike 'cause it's only perfect if you really want it and can't have it.
I will say there's definitely an addiction with the whole bike thing.

I hit 11 in Oz and only stopped because I came over here. I've now got 4 new ones here... it's an addiction for sure.
Trouble is I live in a studio with gf here whereas back home had a massive double unit with garage. Space can have advantages!

This is my "Ultimate" bike (affordable though, as I don't dream much)....

I suppose we all have an "affordable Ultimate bike", and a" money-no-option Ultimate bike" in mind.

That's a thread on it's own.

I think respect comes from people doing their own maintenance and taking an interest in the machines themselves... not whether the bike is an OTP or custom.

the ulitmate wouldn't be a bike, it would simply be a frame and then we simply build it up the way we want it.

If could build just one ultimate track bike (for road use).

British handmade frame with pretty hand cut lugs. Nice italian components.

If I could build just one ultimate SS MTN bike.

American handmade titanium frame (rigid 29r). Titanium finishing kit (H bars a must) with Chris king components.

If I could build my ultimate road bike.

I'd have a Colnago with one of those over the top paint schemes.
