Hi all, thanks for your comments.
I rang London Fields and the guy I spoke to seemed to know what the problem was: apparently the fixed cog needed is not the standard type, it's a less common one that is the same width as the freewheel(?) on the Flyer. I'm new to all this so please be kind!
He offered to sort it out for me in return for cake.
Seems like a cool place with staff who know what they're talking about!
