Rattlebag 9% are stolen while in a transient state corresponding to overlapping indoors/outdoors wavefunctions, before the owner has observed that his bike has been stolen.
Rattlebag have you been playing with irradiated cats again??? tsk tsk

This may be the only solution:

someone still let his front tyre down..
-
• #56
.. and it's only locked through the front wheel. Hacksaw wheel, remove lock, carry bike away..
Yeah, you might need to be the Incredible Hulk to do that but still.. -
• #57
new york d-lock or evolution?
i really cant decide. i want the extra security of the new york but dont want the weight? -
• #58
ya cana hav one with o't tha other.
-
• #59
The heavy lock will result in bigger muscles.
What it comes down to is how much do you not want your bike to be stolen? A little bit - evolution. A lot - ny.
-
• #60
yeah i may just get the mini evo but i think ill struggle to lock the back wheel and the frame to something with my quick release fornt wheel aswell?
-
• #61
Yes, you struggle lots.
I have a mini, and it only fits around my rear wheel, not including the frame, and a post. You can't get the lock out of the rear triangle of the frame unless you cut the wheel up though, which is major hassle.
My NY 3000 fits: post, wheel, seat stays, and front wheel.
-
• #62
ah i think you have persuaded me to get the ny.
only £40 on cyclexpress too. i dont live in an area where
many bikes are stolen but im moving to leeds so i bet
loads are there.
ill order mine later! -

some fellow on here made a good point that good (and cheaper) chains are available from hardware stores as they are used to look up sites with very expensive generators, tools equipment etc.
My brother is giving me a chain for looking up motorcycles - worth £150 apparently so hopefully pretty good
-
• #64
I'm still waiting on them to send me the right lock.
I ordered the Mini and they sent the EVO. I sent the EVO back and I'm still without MINI!
Grrr... usually patient but I'm the sucker carrying the fscking lock every day.. grrr -
• #65
jv some fellow
winston.
You've still got to buy a good lock and wrap the chain around you nice paint job.
Meh. Don't lock bikes up. -
• #66
Chains are easier to break than u-locks, ya know?
Don't buy chain from B&Q or a locksmiths that is cut to length in front of you, either. All the thief needs is a puny pair of croppers that the locksmith used to cut your chain for you to nick your bike!
-
• #67
eeehhhh Chains are easier to break than u-locks, ya know?
well that depend doesn't it
-
• #68
Well I'd say it's true for a u lock vs a chain of the same value upto £100.
A well placed, high quality u lock, e.g. fahgettaboudit mini through rear wheel with no gaps to a solid immovable object will be a lot harder to break than a fahgettaboudit chain through the wheel frame and object.

nah the same guy who cut the chains on youtube then used a £50 pneumatic jack device to bust open d locks, was smaller than bolt cutters too

just ordered my ny 3000. £40 an absolute bargain imo.
the new york fug seems good but it is nearly the same size as the mini but twice the weight .
also its really small and cant lock the whole frame? im not saying i wouldnt get one but i'd rather lock both wheels
and the frame to something with the ny 3000. -
• #71
Just fill the ny 3000 with as much bike and post as you can, and you'll be fine. I get my cranks parallel to the seat stays and put the lock around them as well. I'll take a pic tomorrow if it doesn't make much sense.
The NY fug is the same size as the evo mini but nearly twice the weight because the fug has a locking mechanism on each end of the u shaped bit. The evo mini has only one, and a hooked bit. See my review of it in the reviews category for pictures.

ny 3000 - I found to big and a weird weight to carry around as a regular lock. Good if your leaving your bike locked for an extended period though
abus chain lock, Put it around your waist and you don't notice the weight.
Evo mini - really good if you don't use deep v rims and your not locking up for an extended period.
the mini ny I was put off by the weight 2kgs doesn't really hang to well off a belt/pocket/bag
what you lock it to is really important as well, alot of railings around london can be cut so easily,
they can then just carry the bike or throw it in a van -

jv nah the same guy who cut the chains on youtube then used a £50 pneumatic jack device to bust open d locks, was smaller than bolt cutters too
That's why I say it is *really* important that you fill the lock COMPLETELY. If there isn't a gap in the u-lock, how are you even going to get the jack into the u-lock to bust it open?
Kryptonite's response to that video, by the way, was that there isn't actually any proof that the chain they are using is a Kryptonite chain. After all, they do say that they borrowed the lock from a friend, or it was donated or something.
But any chain with a big enough pair of croppers can be broken. A u-lock with no gaps is a lot more difficult to break because you can't get any tools in.
Scrapper - weird weight - I carry a ny 3000 and a evo mini, and I'm skinny/muscle-less :P

This lock has to date never let me down. ITs reallyhard to get leverage on it and you can get a real tight grip around frame and lampost. Not sure if anyone's mentioned this lock as i have not read all the threads.
Big love for this baby, and has other applications too..... -

becearful with that one, lotts of bad stuff on the web about it.
It has a lock that can be picked with a ball point pen and the links inbeween the cuffs are ment to be a weak point and quite easily comprimised.
stolen from people whilst riding, bike jacking.
