As D locks are supposed to provide protection from bolt cutters, locking them round a piece of your bike (rim) that can easily be chopped with them sounds silly to me.
I also heard that thieves can cut through all your spokes and bend the rim so that it fits through your rear triangle and get your bike that way.
Better than lean locking I suppose, but I wont be doing it anytime soon
