  • Sounds good, my finals end on the 31st, drop me an email at tomleanse at hotmail dot com nearer the time. Good luck!

  • Been lurking for a while, figured I should just sign up!

Grew up in London, but now down saarf. Riding a converted Raleigh (black with gold bits, 80's bling), SS at the moment. I've riden fixed at the local track and love it, but not sure if i'm ready for fixed on the roads yet. Soon though, I crave that extra simplicity!

I like the attitude here, really sound. will try and hook up with one of your rides next time i'n in town.

  • hey every one, im knew here so thought i would say hi

ummm i like bikes strightegedness and vegan food

i ride a 70's fugi converted to fixed, and its BLUE.

  • vegansdontneedgears they need sandwiches. It's okay skinny kid we love you anyways.

  • Hi everyone.
I was directed to this site by buro9 (Don't know if they have the same name here) from the Bikeforums site.
Londoner living in Melbourne but back in June to live again.
Been riding my Kenevans conversion (in the what bike section) for 4 months now after taking about 6 to build it.
Hope to see some of you on the streets soon.

    Cheers.

    Joel

  • buro9 is me :)

A terrible username on bikeforums, it's the username I use when I initially think "just find a freaking unique name and be done with it". I'm velocity boy everywhere else.

    Welcome :)

  • Hi,
I do fixed gear conversions and build wheels. I've been riding fixed gear for a couple of years now around London. I've been looking for a fixed gear community for ages. I have brief contact with people when I build wheels for them but would love to meet people to go on rides etc. If you need help with conversions or building wheels then have a look at my site.

    arup sen's wheel building site

Looking forward to upping my technical skills, helping people out and getting on some rides.

    Cheers,

    Arup

  • ah the arup man I am in Greenwhich borough too. I stumbled accross your site when looking for wheel building info.

  • Hey Arup, Chris here, you built me a wheel a few months back, I've already namechecked you on this site a few times when builds have been mentioned.

  • I'm being shipped off to Swindon Mon-Fri with work for the next 4-5 months! Doh!
I suspect i might be the only fixie in town there.

  • Ha! I grew up inbetween Swindon and Oxford. I disliked Swindon. Swindon is a bit of a hole, not worse than most other small moden towns in the u.k (the whole of the m4 coridor is the same dispite what people from Reading will tell you) but not a cycle friendly place, lots of big fast roads and chavs, remindes me of cycling on roads near the m25.

  • vegansdontneedgears would be interested in learning how to build a wheel, ... looked at your site, but didn't see a price for the tutorial.

There is an online tutorial on the "method" page. If you want to pop round for a tutorial there is no charge other than the tenner I charge for the build, so you're more than welcome to join in and learn. I'm no Jobs Brandt mind and can only do 3 and 4 cross as I mention on my site.

Cheers Chris and thanks for mentioning me.

  • Charlie, born and bred London, resident Paris France, london messenger circa '86 to '90, spent most of the last twenty years riding a Roberts hybrid, bought a 'barekuckle' last year about thirty minutes after discovering 'velospace' and because I like the name 'bareknuckle'.

  • Tom, living in Edmonton, originally from Oxford ish, got a yellow bike.

  • Hi..
Forum lurker from Enfield here.. (waves neighbourly to the Edmonton resident)
The idea of fixed wheel riding intrigues me and I plan to convert something like a cheap old racer for the purpose. (Anyone out there have one to get rid of?)
    Will

  • have a cheap old raleigh frame and forks no headset no bottom bracket free to good home 58 - 60 cm ish

  • cheers for the offer dicki, but 54-56cm is more my sort of size.

  • Hi folks, newbie here, currently riding my MTB to and from work but would love to build a fixie from scratch.

Anybody on here know where I can find a well-worn 49cm track frame? Am tired of trawling the 'bat without success?

    dupice@excite.com

  • Oops..I meant the 'bay, of course ;)

  • Apparently I can't spell my e-mail address either..gotta lay off the Special Brew for breakfast

    dupcie@excite.com
