i think it starts at around £50, Vaz does it for about £70 ( think ) and prices go up up and away.
But as everything else you get what you pay for.
Mario Vaz has been recomended to me by many people, the only guy that wasnt happy about his work was the dude from bricklane bikes.
I'd still go to mr Vaz if i were you. -

Armourtex, in Hackney. Cheaper than Vaz.
Google it.
Did my frame there, and some car wheels a few years ago too. -

I took everything off my frame yesterday, ready to be stipped/painted. I went to Armourtex yesterday but they were shut, so i'll have to go 2mz. If anyone is going to armourtex, i strongly advise you not to take the tube! It's a half hour walk from any station the nearest station - get the 38 bus, takes you direct. I chose armourtex because a)north of the river b) that white bike that belonged to the girl on the L>B ride had it done there and it looked was a buff ting.
Unfortunately, since i only gots 1 bike, i'll have to rely on buses/tubes until i get the frame back. How long do you guys think it'll take?

How is powdercoating for chipping?
Last time i bought a new bike, a street-mtb thingy from Edinburgh bikes in 2001, it came covered in a clear plastic coating which stopped it chipping... anyone know what that is?
-
• #15
that's like a special protecive film that you put on the frame
-
• #16
you can coat in clear powdercoat paint
-
• #17

lpg what day was i when you went to Armourtex and it was closed? it's not that far away from me but I don't want to lug my frame over there and it be closed...
It doesn't seem to be open at the weekend which is a ballache... I rang the, today...no answer.
Also does anyone have an answer to Rakan's question? how is powdercoat vs enamel for hardiness? better/same?

Armoutex are closed on Saturday. Just go in and ask for steve, he's the guy who did my frame. He'll guide you through the list of colours he has and all you have to do is pick the one you want.
A clear coat is included in the price. I got one and it's pretty strong, the paint has come off the dropouts a bit though, so i would just ask him to do 2 clear coats.
I don't think they do enamelling, but it's the same for hardiness, what matters is the clearcoat as thats the only part which comes in contact with the air.

Hi do they also do sand-blast service ?
I have a few rather deep chipings.
I also have one unfortunate dent in the top bar.
What would be the best way of filling all these ? Spattle...
(spattle ? what a strange word that I just looked up from LEO, hope it translates) -

spattle?
spak filler, putty, body filler,
Can anyone recommend somewhere in London to get a frame powdercoated, also any ideas of the average cost to get a frame painted
thanks
