  • Oops.. yeah i thought of that and then forgot to try it, i had http://londonfg... bookmarked without the http://www...

Works fine now & yeah latest FF.

    Cheers D!

  • I've just changed the cookie setting to work on londonfgss.com too. I have the horrible feeling I've just logged everyone out.

  • Yeah, i got the same prob as rkn. i'm using Safari.

  • laplusgourmande Yeah, i got the same prob as rkn. i'm using Safari.

Are you using the full domain too? http://www.londonfgss.com/

  • I think I just made the forum load faster... but I dunno. Let me know if it seems faster.

  • it's deffo faster

  • Cool, well I doubt it will ever go faster than this without my finding a way to do some really weird stuff, so enjoy... it's only downhill from here.

  • Nice and speedy on Camino too.

  • I clearly lied, I found another bit of space for improvement. The Vanilla guys didn't enabled PHP compression using gzip. I've turned it now, everything should appear to be faster :)

  • velocity boy I clearly lied, I found another bit of space for improvement. The Vanilla guys didn't enabled PHP compression using gzip. I've turned it now, everything should appear to be faster :)

so are you saying that it looks fast but isn't? a bit like spinning like a loon downhill but being overtaken by a roadie in freewheeling aero-tuck style.

  • A bit like that... just wait until I find the time-trialler improvement... it's out there somewhere.

  • i keep getting unformatted pages? (is that the right term? everything is in times roman and in one long column with no format)
maybe it's at my end? latest OSX latest Firefox? was o.k this morning.

  • Sounds like you don't have the CSS files, just CTRL+F5 to force your browser to pick up the files again.

  • David,
when someone posts a link in a topic it opens in same window, meaning you gotta backtrack to find the forum
better if they open in new windows innit?

  • Press shift at the same time as you click the link... or middle-click if you're using IE7, Firefox or a browser that supports tabbed browsing.

I'd rather you get the choice as to whether you want to open a new window or not... and you get that choice if I just leave the links alone.

  • hmmm...

fair enough, but if a link is something dodgy and someone clicks, they'll kneejerk the window shut straight away, hence having to start again with the forum. most folk won't remember to shift when clickin'

or am I being old fashioned?

  • Old fashioned is the way I do it ;)

    You're being modern :)

  • oh no!

    the shame, the shame!

  • I just added a really weird bit of code designed to speed up the rendering of the page in your browser.

It appears to be working, but I'd like to know if anyone sees any bugs from this point onwards.

Before you report a bug, CTRL+F5 on a page to force refresh it, your browser may have simply cached old files.

  • i saw some wierd stuff a while back 5-10 mins but it seems fine now back to the good old forum i know

  • Yeah... white page... that was my fault :)

    Fixed now :)

  • do you reckon when we are old and grey and in our 60's ( if we make it that far ) and living in various parts of the world we'll still be typing here !?

  • Nah. We'll be onto the next fashion by then... wheel chairs with aerospokes or something.

  • velocity boy Nah. We'll be onto the next fashion by then... wheel chairs with aerospokes or something.

    nothing wrong with aerospokes* :)

*if you not to fussy about weight

  • lpg, I've tweaked the forum to recognise UK youtube links. This is why you were having problems yesterday, it should work from now on and will also work on all of the links you've already posted.
