  • Yeah, I lost interest in most trance when it moved towards the big strings and vocals. Matt Darey used to play a bunch of tunes that I liked but it was hit and miss. Just too much vocal and too 'soft'.

I've been blasting Astrix stuff recently (psytrance) and quite enjoying that, which is nice as I've found psytrance pretty boring for the last ~20 years. I bought 3 albums of Dimension 5 the other day (ie. Dimension 5 - Transdimensional). I don't know how I missed it back in the day but I got into that recently thanks to someone uploading the whole album to youtube.

  • Yeah I love Astrix. I’d love to get to one of those big psytrance nights.

Some great mixes recorded at Tribe of Frog’s NYE night in Bristol: https://on.soundcloud.com/UEEDCmL8MDgqgcQX9

Oberon, Beamish, Blu Peter, Escape from Samsara was peak trance for me.

This should be in the trance thread but it’s last days of Rome for Lufguss now so IDGAF.

  • I'm just loading up my beatport cart with Astrix releases.

I've always wanted to see Astral Projection and I'm still a bit annoyed I chased a girl instead of seeing them in Melbourne 20 years ago :D

I don't really know any of them. In Oz we only seemed to have the German stuff like Superstition, which I'm totally fine with. Then later on goa trance was a thing and I have a bunch of Astral Projection, Hallucinogen, etc

Oh, how could I forget Platipus Records - I still smash their stuff today.

Trance uses a lot of 303 so IDGAF either.

Had some mad NYE's at Lakota, had a quick flick through that mix and it sounds amazing
