  • Lol I had exactly the same experience. Total ignorance to total want in about an hour. I always loved the look of a Jazzmaster but I only play short scale guitars, so this really ticks a lot of boxes. Having owned a few Japanese Fenders I have a lot of trust in their quality control so I'm happy to buy on sight.

@alex_s I went for the sunburst - I love those pastel ones and I'd love a sparkly one one day but I've always loved the offsets in sunburst:

I love how the junior sizing makes those soapbar pickups look oversized and friendly. I think this guitar is going to be a friend for life.

  • Reminds me of a chat I had a few years back with another guitarist who, after seeing me playing my Jazzmaster and me telling him I also had a Casino said "but you're tall, if I had those guitars I'd look like I'm swimming in guitar!"

In other news, I'm getting serious GAS for a new bass. I've had a Stagg Jazz Bass clone for years which I bought for all of £20 and it plays well but it does sound like a Jazz Bass, which is not the sound I want. Always found it hard to justify investing any more as I only use it for bits of demo recordings at home, but it feels like it's time for either a Precision or a Hofner type bass and the Harley Bentons get great reviews... 🤔

  • I've got an Epiphone Jack Casady (Gold top) from 2012 ish and it's bloody lovely! I re-strung it recently with Rotosound Nylon Flatwounds and it sounds amazing.

I'd like to change the bridge for one of the Hipshot bridges but they are quite spendy. Highly recommended though if you like a real plonk sound! The pickup is great.
