• Weirdly, there's not much of an audible room boom. The sub helped in this regard - with just speakers alone it's a more muddy sound. The low pass filters in the amp must be doing the right thing.

I do have some decent headphones, but some days have been +35°c so it gets hot on the ears.

I'll investigate the room treatment, thanks. The speakers are sitting on some heavy rubber tiles and there's little resin feet on the speaker base. They're isolated fairly well.

  • I would raise the speakers so the tweeters are level with your ears, would also mitigate some of the reflection from the desk surface.

Edit: Would moving the desk to the wide wall be an option?

  • Yes raising the speakers up is a good call. I’d also experiment with blocking the ports (looks like those speakers come with bungs for that purpose?).

Maybe not possible with your setup, but leaving the speakers next to the wall and moving your seat back by about 1.5m should give more balanced bass response.

Turning the desk around would improve sidewall reflections, but the closer wall behind you would bring more problems, so I’m not sure it would help things.
