Charging to full all the time knackers the battery. Charging to near full by default extends the life
Looks like it’s telling you why - you rarely need the full battery, but it gives you the ‘Charge to Full’ option if you really want to.

Can someone explain why my macbook often doesn't charge when plugged in? I'm getting this, rather than the lightening strike icon...
