• Can someone explain why my macbook often doesn't charge when plugged in? I'm getting this, rather than the lightening strike icon...

  • Charging to full all the time knackers the battery. Charging to near full by default extends the life

Looks like it’s telling you why - you rarely need the full battery, but it gives you the ‘Charge to Full’ option if you really want to.
I’d just leave it to do its thing

  • Can someone explain why my macbook often doesn't charge when plugged in?

Because it has learned that it is rarely being used on battery, and so it avoids actually charging to 100%, as this ages the battery faster.

Haha, duncs beat me to it 🙂

  • The OS does this to protect the battery. If you always use it plugged in, it isn’t good for the battery to be kept at 100% all the time.

Double ninja’d. Been told three times now, so hopefully this makes sense
