I think that's just where he got the idea from, although those tyres look pretty easy to do by hand anyway.

It's a demo of the principle that's then used to mount the tyre

Riding the Brompton into work today and my front Exposure strada kept pointing at the floor. I guessed I hadnβt tightened it properly in my haste to swap it over from my regular commuter bike. On further examination the hinge pin had rusted through and snapped. Bugger and also bollocks. So out with the mini drill and a route around in the cupboard for that box of split pins that were left to me by my Grandad 20 odd years ago. And itβs fixed. Itβs not pretty, but at least I will be able to see on the way to work tomorrow.
As per the pics are in a strange order.

Love all the foxing on the ancient split pin label

Noticed one of my pedals had gone wobbly, lbs was selling nukeproof nylons for Β£20 so bought some, didn't really pay attention to how I was going to attach my straps (which bolted into my old pedals)
There was nowhere to bolt them so I laced up the bolt holes with paracord
I've ordered some Chicago screws to replace the paracord
Chicago screws, also called sex bolts, I love it when you find the name of weird little things

Co-opted August Cyclesβ Salsa liplock lamp bracket mod.
M3 bolt + brake pad hardware.
Anyone know the shear strength of a stainless m3 bolt, the force put out by brake housing?

This is an excellent hack.

Highly recommend the knipex pliers wrench as a serviceable nutcracker.
Also great that they cannot pinch your fingers/skin.

Use a longer bolt and put it in from the other side - then fix the hanger with a nut and washer. That way if it shears the bolt (I doubt it) you can still get it out

You won't exceed the shear strength of an M3 there... It would almost certainly hold up doing that job for a front brake.

Frankensteined two brands of baby jail together; had to drill out some rivets and bend some tubes, took about thirty minutes

This scrap timber cacophony is my outsider artsterpiece for the summer. Titled Not The Kitchen Floor, it took four days. This is me on medication

Looks great - how did you make the barrel nut?
Have seen August's solution but my 'temporary' cable tie bodge has been holding for 4 years now...
granted, it's a 'helper' brake on a fixed rear wheel, but had no issues with forces from this setup.

What's the item in the second image which has a red pilot light and what looks like soft insulation around it? Fridge? Freezer? Both?

I would guess heated air dryer with a cover?

• #3597
Really? It's peak summer over there at the moment. Why would you be heating anything?

The back of an electric reclining sofa?

Can you tell that to my set? I left the blood on them as a reminder to how much it hurt

*when used as a nutcracker
The first bit shows how it works, although it's a bit too quick for me.
