I did a 650b conversion on an old Evans touring frame. Would recommend doing it if you can be bothered, it's the best commuter / touring thing I ever owned.

I would have few question:
How does that impact the cantilevers?
Is it still within the range of adjustment?
Are you loosing leverage? -

I had the canti studs repositioned by a framebuilder. It definitely wouldn't have worked otherwise.

Apparently it works better with caliper brakes but I've never tried
Frameset hasn´t arrived yet so no idea. But according to the 1995 catalog frame, forks, stem and headset weigh less than 1,8 kg.
