Take a look on coffee forums - plenty of knowledge there!
To pid the brew mode on the Gaggia it's so easy if you're handy in making some patch cables/crimping. The steam mode can be done easily enough but I gave up last time. Hoping to have another crack soon.
Can't imagine the silvia being much different. Auber sell a kit and I think their instructions are online somewhere.
