  • Awesome!

  • just been through all of this. Superb, congratulations. Did the plans change from this at all and was there a before floorplan anywhere?

  • Thanks, I’ll post up an original floor plan. In the meantime we made a bit of progress outside. Only thing we bought were stone chippings and sleepers for steps. Bit of a workout!

  • Just been through a long update of this as somehow managed to miss it for the last year. Outstanding work. Wasn't sure about the outward opening front door when I saw the first picture but with the front all done it looks ace. Proper inspirational build.

Hopefully you get something to replace the DS in due course. My dad sold his ID a little while back. It was the longest we've had a car in the family at 16ish years and its been a big miss.

  • Ah just seen this. Thanks for the kind words! I really miss my DS too . Sigh! Gorgeous day today out the back

  • Justin, did you decide on a storm porch in the end?
The steel and cedar idea you posted a while ago is they I’m leaning at the moment for ours, I don’t suppose you went any further with the steel fab bloke did you? Was wondering if you had any drawings or specs? Cheeky I know, but it paid off last time :D

  • Yo.
The fabrication bloke never responded so time moved on.
No plans or specs I’m afraid but i imagine it would be a pretty simple job if you’ve got the skills.
You can get similar off the shelf

  • Cheers, it was worth a punt.
I’m thinking 100mm (possibly 150mm) X 50mm box section steel with a hit and miss end panel and sedum roof.
I’d seen that site before and dismissed them on price (cheapskate)

  • The bits of wood / ply left over from the build just keeps on giving!

  • Eventually we’re going to get the front drive done with this ( grass and wildflower seeds in the gaps)

  • Nothing to do with the build as such but a bit of army action today from the window

  • @johnnettles2 did you get a heatpump?

    Grants available I think.

Loved this project. Spent xmas at my dad's where the hot water system is very dated and there's about 2 hours a day where 2 people can have a hot shower max

  • We ended up with a whole new replumb, re wire , plaster etc etc.
New boiler and radiators , loads of insulation but no heat pump.
We looked at various grants but didn’t qualify for any.
