  • Took the hint and got it.

  • same, hint made it easier. 1 under

  • Don’t like a clue ending ‘?!’

  • Even par. Don’t get it
Edit: I get how I built the answer but I don’t get how that means that

  • Very easy 2 under today.

So yesterday, I just wasn’t familiar with “skinning one’s knee”, although saying it now sounds obvious!

  • 2 under today. Just a guess

  • Par too

  • 1 under

  • 2 under first guess, zero satisfaction.

  • Likewise, hoping the lack of real challenge or stimulation in the clues is just a holiday easing-off.

  • Funny how certain sayings do or don't become sufficiently universal to, eg, allow inclusion in a crossword clue or dropping into conversation with the reasonable expectations that their meaning will be discerned. "Going out and skinning your knee(s)" certainly stood as an expression for reaching the age at which one can play out with friends and get into minor scrapes and accidents, at least in my West Midlands 1970s-80s upbringing.

  • 2 under today.

  • Too under

  • Tell you what, tell you what, it’s two under

  • !

  • 2 under.

I mean, what else could the first bit of the clue refer to? From there it's trivial to get the answer...

  • 4 under, first attempt, and yet found yesterday's frustrating. Wired differently @mashton!

  • Also four under first attempt here. Maybe we are birds of a feather?

  • 3 under today found that quite hard

  • 3 under with a hint.

  • 3under

  • 2 under, had to take a clue and a letter, but I still don’t understand it. I’m not opening a YouTube video with sound to find out.

  • its 1645.
    here's the explanation
empty folder and you're left with the letters?
convert 1000 from binary to decimal (the number system we use when talking to people - i've had to rewrite this 3 times so @mashton doesn't say "well, actually the most common, most frequently used system isasdasdsad")
    put them together

  • Still nope.

  • Empty the word folder and you're left with fr
1000 is the binary representation of the number 8 = eight
    freight.
