I think my old WTB byways are the only tyres I’ve thrown out before they have worn out. Death trap tyres!!

They're the only ones I never used. :) I don't like slick middle and knob sides - they were a shit idea in the 90s and they're still shit.

Still got these 650B Gravelking SKs that were pretty good. Probably not great in winter slop though:

It’s the OG gravel bike, the one that started it all. You can’t throw grandad out.

Great shot!

Nonsense. I had my wolverine around the same time, and that was v2

Teravail Cannonball in the 650bx42 flavour then.

Dry up high, wet…well very muddy in Dorset.
Absolutely love the Crux. Was going to bring the 1x version but seatpost clamp was broken when I went to get it from the shed!

Proof that one needs two Crux

Exactly! Vindication… sort of.
Sworks pathfinders did surprisingly well considering the slick centre.

Speaking of Crux(es? cruces?), has anyone replaced the headset bearings yet?
I am finding limited options for the lower headset bearing:
I went with the cheap last time, which didn't last long at all, but not sure I am morally prepared to pay £40 for a single bearing that will likely get gritty anyway.. So wondering if the hive mind has other ideas.

I’ve bought from here regularly in the past, mainly as a Canyon owner.
https://www.airevelobearings.com/product/specialized-crux-2022-2023-headset-kit-steel-stainless-or-black-oxide/I’ve not bought for the Crux mind but it’s on the list to get a couple for spares.
Anyone using the additional 1mm spacer or whatever it is on top? I’ve not had the headset issues but many have.

Just get CK and forget about it for 5+ years?
Anyone using the additional 1mm spacer or whatever it is on top?
I had the stock bung (as effective as and reminiscent of a fishnet tight) replaced and that seems to have mostly sorted it.

• #32671
I didn’t think any of the CK offerings fit?
What did you replace it with? Been on my list to do as well.

Arkose bung is great and bearings hold up well.
I see that the thread title has now been censored.

Cold, misty and surface mud but overall not bad conditions in Surrey today

Tissington trail today was excellent. The fog had even lifted!!! Ft. 16 km uphill at like 2%.

We bailed on the Cantii Trail yesterday at Rye. Some good bits on the first day but mostly bleak and foggy or dark which made it a bit pointless.
Did get BJs on the Beach though.

My missus has a Cannonball (I think) on her Mason but I also think that might be 700C flavour. I like the rounded profile compared to the square-shaped WTBs
