fair comments.
I guess the profile of the tyre / frame / guard varies quite a bit.
in my case the sks edge were a great fit but as you said, the stays inside the guards do limit the tyre size.
I did consider making my own stays and flipping the clip so they mount on the outside, but deffo not something that should have to be done. a bit of a weird design decision IMO -

I think thorn do this the same as many uk frame builders did before the mudguard breakaway clips etc existed.
With eyes at fork ends , if something gets caught in guard, the mudguard is forced into the wheel and can cause catastrophic results. With eyes higher up , the arc of movement moves the mudguard away from wheel so a bit less likely to be as catastrophic. Not as aesthetic but…. -

Meant to say that I was fitting to a carbon gravel bike with chunky tubes. Would have been way easier on something like my old cross check with skinny steel tubes. I like the square look so glad they worked out for you.
Think the stay fitting approach was maybe moved across from their bluemels range. But as you say doesn't make as much sense the way they did it on the edge

Ah. That makes sense. Thanks.

ideal bike territory - painted guards are a bit naff but it looks quite tidy

Lovely. Tell me that you don't really put this through the grime of a British winter? That's why they invented carbon!

Mudguards + flaps seems a bit too practical for that

Small details, big difference…
Love the front of the front mudguard being stabilised by a stay attached to canti stud. How do you do that? I too do similar using low rider bosses in fork on one bike, but the other ain’t got them, so would love to lift your idea and give you all due credit of course! -

38cm Bontrager VR-C, best bars in the world imo. All about the support for the forearms.
@JohnnyOnions it's just a bent wire coathanger looped over the canti stud under the nut. works perfectly though it's getting a bit rusty now
one of these SKS mudguard nuts through the front of the guard
Yep had this with mine. Just remove the wheels and give them a good twist 👍
