  • That would be exactly right. Yeah, that synonym not obvious, but all works neatly.

  • 3 under

  • Stumped

  • Took a letter, got 2 under.

But I call foul. I think that the second letter is not valid.

I'm going to have to watch the video.

    Urgh

  • Hmm, he claims it is "very common".

I need to check a dictionary.

  • I can't find it in the OED

  • What letter are you not getting? Seems a pretty clear one.

  • Google the longform word and symbol and you get pages and pages of the letter

    I scored: 2 under par

  • Fair enough, my bad

  • 2 under, but only because it's a longer word. Took a hint and guessed twice.

  • Jinxed myself for today by having said yesterday that I normally don't find these too challenging. Eventually guessed at the definition, then spotted the word-play. No real issue with that second letter, but agree with @mashton that you don't often see it clued that way.

  • Easy threesy under peasy

  • So easy you got an extra shot!

2 under, but I thought it was hard today.

Is my imagination or are they getting more complex recently?

    Me likey.

  • Even par found that hard today

  • Got it straight away today. I think I'm wired differently as I find other 'easy' ones much tougher

  • We love you @oat44, but anyone who has ever BTOB-ed knows that you are definitely wired differently!

  • BS today.

    4 over

  • 2 under

  • Easy today, but just don't like the clue - feels overly-wordy and a bit forced.

  • I've never had an issue with the videos, think they remind me of old kids TV or something, but this is actually brilliant.

  • That's it!

I have been trying to nail the vibe and that's it - kids TV.

  • Agree - the best clues are the ones that have an internal logic outside the context of the crossword and that you could imagine being written or uttered, or even sometimes have something of poetry about them. Today's is clearly only a crossword clue.

  • Got this one quickly, but almost guessed a near anagram of the correct answer (a different letter doubled) that certainly would have worked as a synonym of the first word in the clue. Checked myself partly because profanity rarely appears in crosswords!
