I spent 30 seconds and then skipped forward a bit and all I heard was a guy talking about pizza and lawsuits. Hard pass

It got interesting when they start talking about large cassettes and tyre widths

Bike geometry talk is the new helmet debate.

If you want the full experience, have a look at his instagram. He’s completely unwilling to have a discussion with anyone he deems as less intelligent than himself. Even asking a question is not allowed unless you have a TED talk to back it up.

Seems as good a place to ask as any. Due to family health challenges, I'm having to come back to the UK quite a bit recently. Bought a nice and cheap (but oldish) 29er hardtail with a decent spec. Came with fairly knackered Race Kings that are very fast on gravel/road, but nearly killed me on SFAB bridleways which is where it will get used a lot. Going to buy some new tyres, but don't want to lose all speed on road as approx 50% of rides so far have been on tarmac. Would Cross Kings be a happy medium or something a bit more aggressive? Any other brands to consider? Internet is overwhelming with the number of recommendations and I have very little MTB experience.

You can use a cross king at the front for some grip

Given the cost of their chains and cassettes... there's no fucking way I'd get that bike anywhere near sand.
Velodrome use only.

@BareNecessities @hippy do you want some thudbuster rubber inserts? I found them in the shed, they came with my Tern (it had Thudbuster). Unused, can post it to you.

Is this a converted mtb?
-
• #32616
It’ll be the Canyon XC hardtail. Built for Dutch beach racing. Look it up.

I think I now own the world's supply of Thudbusters so I'm probably ok for inserts at least for the newer G4 style of post. Which version are yours?

It's an Exceed Frame, Grial handlebar and Orbea fork I think

Will be building a new bike in 2025.
Are there any carbon forks rated to take racks other than the enve adventure and seido mgv?

Firelight’s new fork designed for the Secan?
-
• #32621
The new Fairlight Cempa fork on the Secan 3.0 has a bonded in metal section for just this purpose. Also I’ve been doing some searching for Carbon forks lately and I believe the Seido MGV is made by Speeder whose ‘gravel adventure’ model is very similar shape and features and will cost you $120 USD. You’d have to check with them whether it is also rack capable though. I think Stinner and Standert both use forks from Speeder so they seem to be decent quality.

Thank you, I will ask Fairlight if they will sell the Campa fork separate and also look into Speeder!
I am debating steel fork / carbon fork because of this. The price of the Enve fork is a bit much tbh. But also a fair bit lighter than a steel fork… But then a steel fork could be powder coated… Much to think about.

What about the Curve Ride/Seek forks? Very burly but in the region of £400ish

Outstanding Cumbrian gravel vibes today. Much warmer than it looks tbh.
