  • I'm after a new sleeping bag and was hoping someone might be able to sell me one!
I'd like it to reasonably warm and pack down as small as possible. It doesn't need to be tiny or super light and comfort is definitely more important than packability but equally, I want something that I can throw in a backpack without it taking up the entire thing as my current one does.

Recommendations for something new that won't break the bank also appreciated (although if new I'd want to avoid down).

For context, I probably won't actually take it camping but I play in an overwhelmingly unpopular band and spend a decent amount of time sleeping on people's floors (quite often in unheated shitholes).

  • I ended up ordering something from Sport Pursuit which still hasn't arrived a couple of weeks later (despite being marked as in stock and the rest of the order turning up promptly). I'm going away on Thursday and I'm not confident of it arriving in time which leaves me a bit stuck.
Where in London has a brick and mortar shop with a decent selection? I'd rather get something decent that will last but also can't justify/afford anything mega pricey.

  • Go to Decathlon, buy whatever fits your needs and budget

  • That was my initial thought. Any idea if their own brand camping stuff is decent?

  • I'd recommend their down bags...I've used the 10 degree one. Their silk liners are good value too.

  • everything Decathlon makes is more than decent

  • I picked up a Decathlon number. Looks alright, came to £70 which seems reasonable. Will report back from the floor of some squalid euro hell hole.

  • Check in from the floor of a squalid euro hell hole: the decathlon bag is a bit shit, haha. It's nice and warm and compact but seems to be lined with a bin bag. Spent all night scrunching around with the bag sticking to me.

  • You're probably too hot, sweating and so it's sticking. Open it out so it's less warm.

  • Silk liner ftw also.

  • Yeah that's probably it. It just feels quite plastic-y and unpleasant!

  • It's tricky because the best sleeping bags for crashing on floors are big thick ones. Grab two towels and fold to your torso + bum length X shoulder width for a sleeping mat and enjoy a peaceful night's sleep gurning.
