This one, presumably?
It's an interesting one. I don't know what it was like before the redesign, so this may be nonsense, but it could be that the problem is caused by the removal of the 'gateway features' that previously caused more visual uncertainty on the approaches. 2018 picture here:
It's well-known that you can't just plonk a feature in the middle of a straight run without preparing drivers for it somehow, and I'd guess that since the construction of the rubbish footway tracks, it's less prominent visually. Look at how in the new design the crossing is inset into the tracks and not offset from the footway as before.
As I implied, it may have been a problem even before the redesign, but I'd guess that the new design would have changed driver behaviour for the worse here.
Glad you're OK.
Nearly got wiped out on a Tiger crossing on Wandle Trail heading North across London Road/A217 west of Mitcham yesterday lunchtime. Waited for westbound traffic to stop, started to cross when a big white window company van sailed through eastbound, no attempt to stop at all, it just tore across Tiger and adjacent Zebra. Luckily I’d seen it and realised he wasn’t stopping (he was actually gunning it) so full on braking had me stopped before I was halfway across. Caught him at next lights he was rolling window down with profuse apologies even as I approached so didn’t bother to d-lock him. Pathetic scrawny arsed twat, red-eyed with lighter in hand giving off a strong drug-driving vibe. Told him about himself of course. Didn’t get details, but the crossing is a death trap (literally, I think an old guy was killed by a bus there recently) and should be light controlled. So who do I get in touch with about that?
