  • The os 18 setting to use and not use on your phone update

  • Something not mentioned is a good security lockdown feature, useful in this phone snatching world we now live in.

    Settings-Screen Time-Content & Privacy-turn the Passwords & Face ID and Accounts settings to “don’t allow”

  • If you haven't already then set a SIM PIN. Prevents the SIM being put in another handset to receive reset codes for things like online banking.

  • Hello apple heads. As a non apple user wanting to buy my partner an apple watch, would you think a series 8 from back market or a new se gen2 from apple?
    I only ever buy 2nd hand for myself... But it's Christmas etc. I appreciate any wisdom

  • Just looking at the specs, seems the series 8 has a few extra features if she wants the sport/health stuff. Same chip so they probably run everything the same otherwise

  • Personally, I would get a Series 8 for the fast charging capability alone (the SE2 does not offer this) 👍

  • What exactly does this do?

  • *This video presumes one has an Iphone 15 or newer.

  • Anyone got a cheap but still supported iPad to shift?

  • Appreciate your response

  • My son has an iphone 11 that I bought for him refurbished about a year ago. the screen now has some areas that aren't responsive, so e.g. he can't type some letters on the keyboard. Does this need a new screen to fix it?

  • My iPhone 11 is dying a death now, battery life has dropped off a cliff and call volume is super low and can’t be increased.

    15 = £750
    16= £880
    16pro= £1069

    Realistically the main difference in features I actually use is the zoom lens on the pro? Anything else obvious I’m missing?

    I guess I can’t use AI on the 15 but I’m not sure I give a shit about that…

  • I guess I can’t use AI on the 15

    you can on the 15 pro

    battery replacement on the 11 from Apple is £85 if you're otherwise happy with it
    https://support.apple.com/en-gb/iphone/repair/battery-replacement

  • Yeah, looked at that but it has this issue with the call volume being super quiet, and the camera seems not very sharp anymore.

    My initial plan was to get a 15 pro but nowhere has them new anymore and not sure I want to deal with potential bad refurbs!

  • My wife has my old 11 and had super quiet call volume. Had the mic replaced by a local phone shop for £20.
    But I don't want to stop you from buying a new phone.

  • Is there much risk with a refurb from a reputable place? The refurbs I have had have been good.

  • But if new the 16 is the best between longevity and price

  • 2015 MacBook Pro 13" - 2.9GHz i5 / 16GB / 512GB - 60W MagSafe 2 charger

    Swollen battery, makes the case bulge

    Anyone want it? Collection from EN5 or exchange somewhere in zone 1. Could burst into flames at any point but not that likely, probably. Perhaps a donation to the forum or the LFB as appropriate?

  • Prices and SSD storage all being equal, M2 with 16gb unified memory or M3 with base 8gb unified memory? Both 2024 release, so 2xTB and MagSafe 3 charging. Basic photo/video editing (not adobe CC) and general (personal) laptop usage.

    Wanting something that will last, but not break the bank (as a more generous than usual Christmas present for the SO). M3 is the newer chip but ray tracing and dual external monitors aren’t really needed, so leaning towards better memory…

  • I’d go more memory

  • 100% more memory.

  • Is the answer always latest m chip when considering future proofing apple laptops?
    I like to hold onto them as long as possible, use case is browsing, photos, music.

  • You could probably buy an M3 with more ram and have an equally long shelf life vs M4 with less ram.

    With your use cases, you shouldn't have any issues with either for a very, very long time.

  • Can I still drag and drop mp3s onto an iPod shuffle 2nd generation from a new Mac with latest OS ? Hard to find a straight answer on google, I dont have the iPod with me to check
