  • The TV industry has a problem with sexual misconduct, inappropriate behaviour and bullying because of an industry wide culture of silence & plausible deniability; the broadcasters "don't know" because the shows are made by separate production companies, the production companies "don't know" because the productions are ran separately to the corporate production arm and everyone that works on production is a freelancer so not employed by the production companies. Freelancers will all have disappeared elsewhere by the time people make complaints.

The BBC is one of the largest broadcasters in the UK & everyone that works in TV will work on a show broadcast on the BBC at some point in their careers so of course the BBC will quite often be implicated when incidents are made public.

Creepy talent & management get away with things because no one wants to upset the other companies; broadcasters need to keep the producers on side for key shows in order to keep the future series on their channels, producers don't want to upset the broadcasters as they rely on broadcaster funding in order to make the shows, then there's the secondary sales around the world which is a massive money maker for UK companies etc...

Unless there's a fundamental shift to prioritising safeguarding over profits, I don't think the industry is going to change any time soon.

  • I see Two GGs says that all the complaints are coming from
“Middleclass women of a certain age”
Or to put it another way
people that won’t put up with my shit and have enough purchase to call me out
*it’s so unfair that people can’t be like the old days on the market, when you could say to customers “what a lovely pair” “squeeze my plums” “you don’t get many to the lb” etc etc.

  • GG must be DD on here, got grief with the same demographic.

  • one that investigations and deals with allegations faster and more thoroughly.

do you have any examples of these? none are springing to mind, for me.

They're not that newsworthy as a predator who makes lewd jokes is suspended and removed before it escalates.

Failing to act often emboldens them and they go on to build up a litany of allegations which becomes very newsworthy.

perfect, exactly what i was coming here to post after reading his most recent comments, he's a complete turd isn't he.

  • Around the time of the GFC I worked on a B2B magazine aimed at high end lawyers. The whole phone hacking/privacy thing was doing the rounds at the time and although our magazine had absolutely fuck all to do with privacy legislation (apart from the actual legal side, obvs) my bellend of an editor would shoehorn the subject into any fucking story he could. Boohoo, us poor journos, etc. He thought he was some kind of ScoopLord when he was in fact a third rate hack scraping the bottom of the B2B barrel, he thought he was running the Washington Post, I've never seen an ego like it. Massive cunt.

  • Wallace doesn't comprehend other people's reactions to his humour. Perhaps he's autistic, like his son?

Clever media people are wallowing in schadenfreude at the expense of a jumped-up greengrocer who left school at 14. Should he really be a lead story? Aren't there better targets?

  • Wallace doesn't comprehend other people's reactions to his humour. Perhaps he's autistic, like his son?

Or maybe people should stop trying to use Autism to excuse being a cunt.

  • I don't understand autism enough to go into that. But there are people here who do - I was hoping one of them might pitch in. I've endured extreme cuntiness from several people who I suspected were autistic. I just don't know where to start with someone whose default setting is Cunt when they don't seem to be aware of it.

Greg's jokes are typical building site/squaddy humour. But he's never twigged that they don't fly in other settings.

  • I've endured extreme cuntiness from several people who I suspected were autistic.

Tbh, your intuitions mean fuck all, autism is very difficult to diagnose and even if the people who were cunts to you were on the spectrum, that doesn't mean, that it was the reason for that behaviour. People have 'learned' that autistic people don't understand social cues and behaviours and extrapolated that socially unacceptable behaviour can be explained away by saying 'they must be on the spectrum'. It's both lazy and offensive.

. I just don't know where to start with someone whose default setting is Cunt when they don't seem to be aware of it.

You have no clue that they have zero awareness of it, but what you are hearing is people throwing the idea around because it gives him an out.

They did fly, for 20 years, he's been the big swinging dick for so long and hadn't been called out for it before now. It's fuck all to do with autism and everything to do with power dynamics and everyone being too scared to say anything.

  • I interact with people at different degrees of the autism scale pretty frequently (nerdy hobbies will do this). They're generally not cunts, they may say some off colour things but it's usually just parroting what they've heard someone else say and don't really get the meaning of it. Armchair diagnosis aside, Greg ain't on that scale and reaching immediately for autism is being very over generous and dismissive.

  • What’s the common thread?

    John Peel
    Jimmy Saville
    John Lesley
    Huw Edward’s
    Greg Wallace
    Rolf Harris
    Dave Lee Travis
    Chris Denning
    Geoffrey Wheeler

  • Oh John peel fans will hate you for that truth.

  • I don't understand autism enough to go into that.

Yet you've brought it up in this kind of context a few times recently. Maybe understand it enough before you do it again.

  • How am I to understand if experts like you don't explain?

And thanks for instructing me not to mention it. You have a great career as a moderator ahead of you.

  • I'm genuinely impressed Greg managed to find the one path to instant career hari kiri when he had so many potential off ramps that would have got him back on C5 in months.

  • GB News building a kitchen set right now

  • I don't understand how he survived with just a light internet grilling from his article about not wanting to spend time with his autistic kid.

  • Christ, hasn’t he explained enough? He didn’t want that child, he’s a saint for spending any time with him. Or her. I don’t know, fuck knows he doesn’t.

  • Look he made an arrangement that if they had the kid he'd hire a nanny so he doesn't have to spend any time with it. Job done.

  • he'd hire a nanny

As I said, man’s a saint. Tho he might have some problems affording her now he’s dole scum…

  • The kid is 2 or 3 years old and he has to grow up with his autistic adventures being lovingly broadcast on Instagram. I'm sure he'll be grateful when he's old enough to appreciate it.

  • Greg's jokes are typical building site/squaddy humour. But he's never twigged that they don't fly in other settings.

This is true I’ve spent time in both of these environments, there is always one aggravating shit who wants attention and this is how he gets it. Apparently Gregg once appeared just wearing a sock….. I’ve seen someone just wearing boots, Kevlar helmet and an issue sock.

There is a character in King Gary who depicts this perfectly
