I am in the same boat, my 6a has been great but is now starting to struggle to do some basic functions. The charging port is also very temperamental so some mornings I wake up and it hasn't actually been charging despite plugging it in.
Main contender is the Pixel 8 which is £400 at the moment from Bezos (sorry) as I don't need a lot of functionality and it comes with 7 years of updates.
I have had a Pixel 6a, (128 Gb storage, as advised by @festerban below), for just over 2 years. When new it had problems maintaining a GPS fix,
(which was a demerit as I routinely track bike rides). This was fixed by a software update.
Originally the battery had trouble lasting a full day, (not that I spend all day on the 'net, and I don't game), just listening to podcasts, some tracking, and a few photos.
Again, the Android updates, (its is now on Android 14), have resolved this.
A couple of times in the Summer, the phone has shut down because it got too hot.
I have to routinely transfer podcasts and photos/videos to my laptop to avoid filling the 128Gb of storage.
I'm considering replacing it with a newer Pixel:
better camera, potentially more storage, and a longer guarantee of Android & security updates.
