I have to be more alert and aware of my surroundings. I turned into a fairly empty street I use almost daily. The driver of the parked car opened her door on the left. I don’t even remember the impact. In all my years I have never been doored. I injured my right knee and shoulder this time. My only functioning bike is my main transportation. I should save for a car but I’ve been saying that on and off since forever. I put that wheel back on because I have to get the mavic checked. The rear was trued a few days ago.

I took styling ques from your build and had my Vigorelli dressed like this on my morning bank errand. Most accidents happen when you least expect so my approach to street riding has been to avoid being in a position to tempt fate. With that being said, Im running a backed wheel on stripped threads using industrial 2 part epoxy (jb weld). My thought is if it's strong enough to withstand the industrial applications which require more than what my legs can generate it should be safe... I'm planning to cut the spokes to reuse the rim when the time comes anyway and the old hub/cog and lock ring can go into the Metal recycling bin in one piece...

Really nice Vigorelli! Looks great with the steel fork. My rear Mavic*/Phil that I don’t use anymore has stripped threading on both sides. The cog was tight enough to ride without foot retention on one side, but I was over foot braking and going through tires quicker than when I skid. Idk what I’m looking for in a future wheelset. The silver Wabi set works fine for now. Ideally, some carbon 50mm/60mm clincher rims laced to high flange hubs hah. I’ve never had carbon wheels and with my track record of going through wheels.. maybe not a good idea.

Silver stem and gumwall looked nice combo.

Polished wheels/gum walls/silver finishing kit is so classy which I prefer then an array of different accent colors...

I’ll swap it back eventually. The ideas are endless. Silver ahead stem with silver compact drops? I was staring a 3t sphinx on eBay at like 3 am wondering how it would look on the Dolan. Then I remembered all the reviews and how flexy they are. Silver cockpit, tektro road levers, front brake, black tape, silver setback seatpost, matching tires *would be cool

It's all in the process, things change. Trends come & go but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Build it to ride and not just to look at... There will always be the next thing

Love the ethos of the try it style of your build. Ride it, enjoy it, change some bits, enjoy that too.

Looks like a solid fixed road build and a nice quiet route to ride. I've always liked ellipse wheels and hope one day to find a good set for decent price

I want to use this bar, brake levers, tape, plugs, brake calipers, have actual brakes, get a white industries freewheel 22t, do those come in 3/32? Use the big ring. 175mm on a high bb with a freewheel. Add double toe clips and straps to the pedals. Reappropriate the road chain. Or use the small ring depending on the chainline. Smaller freewheel. Figure out the bottom bracket situation. Double Vittoria Randonneur x25c front x28c rear on the Dolan. Use current everything else. *No I don’t. That would be a lot of work. Keep it simple. **I’d have to get the brake bridge drilled.

You'll probably need a new chainring if you want to use those DA cranks on the Pre Cursa. I did something similar on my Genesis Day One. A 3/32" chainring with road spacing is quite niche. I got mine from Bikepunx but I don't think you're in the UK are you?
Once I'd got the correct ring it worked well though, the chainline with the chainring in the same position as the small ring on a double is spot on.
